Escape From Poverty Room in Progress

Jordan and Sadie have been hard at work developing an Escape from Poverty Room for REACH. The goal is to have a fun team building exercise that teaches our groups about the challenges of living in poverty. The room is still being tested, but will be ready soon.

From an Intern
"I have learned quite a bit about myself over the course of this summer with REACH. I have learned what it's like to give myself fully to service, and how to work with kids in a way that keeps them both excited and motivated. I have learned first hand what it is like to "lead by doing," and what it is like to lead by following and listening to others. Each group of campers is so different from each other, and in the best kind of way--they all possess different, unique sets of skills that have made this summer that much more successful. But what was probably the most satisfying aspect of my journey with REACH, was watching the REACHers find their own passions and niches, and help them make those strides toward who they want to be in the future."

"I was able to meet a lot of people I wouldn’t normally have gotten to meet. There was an older lady I was able to talk to that was about to have surgery. She didn’t have any family so we talked before she had to go through that. I also, met a man who was deaf and could only sign. I know a little sign, so it was neat to connect with someone who doesn’t have a lot of people who are able to communicate with him." - LeAnne with Charlotte Charge
