March Madness -- Alternative Breaks
And just like that, the wild month of March has come and gone! Our busiest season of Alternative Breaks yet is complete. Between 9 colleges and universities, over 140 students, staff, and faculty volunteered a total of 2,534 hours of service with the Rescue Mission, Roanoke Community Garden Association, Christian Soldiers Food Pantry, FRIENDS of the Blue Ridge Parkway, Goodwill Industries of the Valleys, Kids Soar, the Hermitage, Roanoke Greenways, First Christian Church, and REACH’s Neighborhood Revitalization Projects, the Dale Sisters! Each and every Alternative Breaker accepted the challenge to extend their service beyond the community here in Roanoke and continue spreading hope, empowering others, and sharing the joy that comes from service back in their own communities. We are so very thankful for all of the work they accomplished with our community partners and hope to see them again next year!
