July really swam by for us here at the Back to the Sea Society, and the end of August is following close behind 🐟
The summer has been full of Touch Tank Hut visits, programming, and Tidal Trekkers - and we can't wait to see what the rest of the summer (and beyond) has in store!
Ever wondered how boat traffic affects animals in Halifax Harbour? In the words of this month's blog post author, Charlotte Craig, "Imagine a motorcycle revving through your house while you get ready for school, make a meal, or talk to your family."
The Return of Tidal Trekkers: A Resounding Success!
You asked, and we listened - this month we ran our first Tidal Trekkers of the season. Spoiler alert: it went swimmingly! Our staff and volunteers met up with an incredible group of ocean lovers at the Regatta Point Walkway along the Northwest arm. Here they learned about the intertidal zone and found some amazing animals living in their habitats!
We also had a first for the Back to the Sea Society - a Tidal Trekkers in French! This Rando-Marée was in partnership with l'Alliance Francaise, an organization that promotes the French language and francophone culture around the world. We were so glad they joined us and super excited to share our love of the ocean in English AND French!
If you'd like to join a Tidal Trekker yourself, keep an eye on our Tidal Trekkers webpage, where we post new Tidal Trekkers dates!
Support Back to the Sea by donating to us! While monthly donors are incredibly important to small charities like Back to the Sea, you can make a difference to ocean education with any amount!
The summer is swimming by, and we at the Back to the Sea Society are so proud of what we've accomplished, and so thankful for the ocean education we've been able to bring to our community.
