Welcome to the Winter Issue of the WDS Young Physician News Brief, aimed at providing you with up to date, relevant, and timely information - all things WDS.

We would like to first start by wishing “Happy Holidays and New Year” to all of you and your families! As the Chairs of the Resident, Fellows, and Young Physicians Committee (RFYP) of WDS, we are so excited to bring you our second Young Professional Quarterly News Brief. We hope that through these quarterly news briefs you can stay more connected with the events and opportunities available through the WDS. Each quarter we will highlight a Young Physician WDS member, member benefits, upcoming events, and other important dates. Make sure to check out the regional WDS events in your area as well as national WDS events at various conferences.

This January, WDS will be hosting the Membership Enrichment & Leadership Development Forum (MELD) in Dallas, TX January 19-21, 2017. We encourage residents and young members to attend. This conference will be a great opportunity to learn about work-life balance, leadership, networking, and more. Resident scholarships are also available for the conference. To register and apply, click Here. In February, the WDS will also be hosting several events at the AAD which are also listed on the Upcoming Events page.

As a reminder, membership to the WDS is complimentary to all residents, fellows and at a discount one year post training. WDS memberhsip allows you to take advantage of a host of benefits, including educational materials, sponsored meeting luncheon tickets, networking and mentorship opportunities, research grants, regional and national events including service events, and this Quarterly News Brief! We are continuing to build our resident liaison program so if your program does not have a resident liaison and you are interested in being one, please email us!

If any of you have ideas about how our committee and WDS can better serve you, please feel free to email us at any time. We look forward to staying connected with all of you in the New Year!

Best Wishes,

Nada Elbuluk, MD, MSc & Kachiu C. Lee, MD
