Welcome to the Fall Issue of the WDS Young Physician News Brief, aimed at providing you with up to date, relevant, and timely information - all things WDS.

As the Chairs of the Resident, Fellows, and Young Physicians Committee (RFYP) of WDS, we are excited to bring you our first Young Professional Quarterly News Brief and to introduce you to the benefits of our organization.  This News Brief is an exciting new benefit of being a member WDS, that is created by the RFYP Committee. Each quarter we will highlight a Young Physician member of the society, current member benefits, upcoming events, and other important dates.

Membership is free to all resident and fellows, and allows you to take advantage of a host of benefits, including educational materials, sponsored meeting luncheon tickets, networking and mentorship opportunities, research grants, regional and national events including service events, and this quarterly newsletter.

One of the primary aims of the WDS is to cultivate personal and professional development for dermatologists. Our committee was created to represent the interests of young physician members of the WDS through providing relevant resources including career guidance, mentorship, and networking opportunities, to positively support the careers of young dermatologists. Our international network of dermatologists provides trainees with an opportunity to learn from challenges faced by others, as well as career guidance. Members can view the Mentor Directory at any time.

The RFYP Committee worked hard over the last year to create a series of webinars of prominent dermatologists answering common questions faced by trainees. We encourage you to explore these short videos on “How to Choose your Path,” “Building a Brand,” and “Negotiating a Contract.” These videos are available to all and can be viewed on our YouTube Channel.

We hope this News Brief will help you take advantage of all these member benefits.

Best Wishes,

Nada Elbuluk, MD, MSc & Kachiu C. Lee, MD
Young Physicians Committee Chair and Deputy Chair
