Team HF at the Gauntlet Games

 

 Many thanks to all those that joined us to make Team HF at The Gauntlet Games. We were the biggest team in the event and we all worked together to help each other over a series of inflatable water and climbing obstacles. The course was 5km with over 30 obstacles and we even battled against really gladiators.

It took us all an hour and a half to complete and ended with rope swing and massive foam filled inflatable slide sliding us down to the finish line.
 
The event theme was the letter 'G' so we all covered ourselves in glitter, gold spray and gold accessories until we all got completely covered in mud and foam!

It was a glorious morning in the sun and we had amazing support from family and friends. Thank you to everyone who was involved we had so much fun, sign ups for next year have already began.

Congratulations to James Banner for being this months HF star member.

James' fitness levels have gone from strength to strength, he truly works hard and pushes himself to getting the results he deserves. His attitude towards health, fitness, nutrition and a good balance in life is one many would aspire to replicate. James has been a great asset to the HF team and we are very thankful for his support and loyalty over the years, he will be missed.

"In 2012 my training came to an abrupt end as my local bootcamp decided to call it a day.  Luckily as one door closed another opened.  Mark and Katie ceased the opportunity and worked quickly to establish Horsham Fitness. The last four years have flown by and whatever the weather the sessions go on regardless.  On arrival and without fail the trainers are always smiling and enthusiastic for the session ahead.  The workouts  are proudly displayed on the whiteboard as we all gather around hoping the words ‘gate’ and ‘run’ don’t feature too much.  However, for the next 45 minutes it’s ok.  These sessions fly by and you’ll be amazed what you can achieve and burn in the time.  No sooner as you’ve warmed up, you’re cooling down and 600 calories in credit. Bonus!


The flexibility of the session times has been a great help to me over the years so if work or life gets hectic I can normally squeeze in an early session and not miss out.  As such I’ve experienced both Mark and Katie or AM and PM as I like to think of them.  The recent addition of Donato has been great too and the 6 week body challenge they launched this year was a fantastic way to start my year as I dropped some excess weight and toned up.  Collectively I think they cover all the bases from a trainer perspective.  Individually they are all very personable but each with little specialisms or interests that collectively make Horsham Fitness a very complete offering.  It’s not just a body weight boot camp either, there’s equipment.  Lots of equipment.  Kettlebells, ropes, pull-up bars, skipping ropes, box jumps, boxing to name a few.  There’s more than enough kit to keep it interesting and progressive. 


And finally I have to say a bit about those who go, what a diverse and friendly bunch we all are, if I do say so myself.  There’s no egos just a welcoming bunch of people all united in trying to shake off a tyre or two.  It’s been a pleasure training with you all and I leave fitter than ever. I only hope my new home has something similar to offer."

Body Challenge 2016 - A great success

We launched the Six Week Body Challenge at the start of 2016 and we truly believe that this is the best body transformation programme around. The application of individualized nutritional plans and an added focus on fitness has brought the participants huge results.

We've had 28 clients complete the challenge to date with all making notable differences from their hard work, commitment and determination to make a change for the better.

The key to a lifestyle change is to form new habits, with the Body Challenge we give you the knowledge to do this to reach individual goals making it a fantastic programme to be involved in.

Overall there has been an average 5cm loss from the waist and an average 4kg loss over the 6 weeks. Testimonials also report improved energy levels, improved cardiovascular health, greater muscle definition, improved strength and stamina, improved concentration and mood, greater confidence and much more.

REASONS TO SPRINT!

The summer months at HF have allowed us to incorporate sprint training in different forms into our programmes.
 
Sprinting is hugely challenging as it utilizes all your energy and muscle power for short intense bursts and therefore the benefits are worth the effort.

 
Health
Most importantly sprinting comes with cardiovascular benefits. The fast-twitch muscles that are built with explosive sprints put extra effort on your muscles making your heart work and pump harder which in turn strengthens it. A strong heart with better circulation reduces your chances of getting heart disease and can help lower blood pressure.
 
Fat loss
Sprinting not only burns calories during its duration but greatly improves overall metabolism allowing you to burn more calories even at rest. Improving your metabolism not only helps prevent weight gain but also prevents health conditions such as diabetes.
 
Endurance
Sprints can help your endurance in long distance running, in fact sprinting is one of the most efficient ways to build your endurance. Going at max speeds on a sprint will improve your endurance capacity, amplifying your maximal oxygen uptake and increasing the time it takes for fatigue to set in. Since sprints train the body to burn fat for fuel they preserve muscle glycogen and prolong work capacity.
 
Strength
As sprinting is an anaerobic exercise it works to build muscle in the same way that weight training does. When weight training your body is required to produce short bursts of energy that increase muscle strength. Sprinting works in the same way however sprinting uses many muscles at the same time making it one of the most complete muscle training exercises available.
