Spotlight On Tosin Oshinowo | Architect & Designer
Tosin's work...WE KNOW! (Swoooooon)

Architect, Tosin Oshinowo was recently featured on BBC Africa, during the short clip she spoke about her afro-minimalist aesthetic as well as her experiences as a female Architect in today's Nigeria.
In order to better understand why we're such big fans of Tosin's work, you might want to read this piece by The Nerve Africa. Oshinowo is a working-Mother who like many others - is KILLING the game. In 2012 she founded cmDesign Atelier, her own architectural design consultancy (Tosin is the woman behind the Maryland BlackBox in Ikeja, Lagos). She also launched a contemporary Nigerian furniture line in 2017 called Ile Ila (Meaning 'House of Lines'you may be familiar with Ile Ila's launch campaign for the Àdùnní Chair which featured Artist, Chidinma). Oshinowo also has a curatorial hand in the upcoming Lagos Biennial ...she is most definitely ONE TO WATCH.
They've Gotta Have Us BBC TWO
Artist and photographer Simon Frederick’sThey’ve Gotta Have Us’ gives viewers a unique insight into the film industry from some of its biggest names including - Harry Belafonte, Barry Jenkins, Jesse Williams, John Boyega, Don Cheadle, David Oyelowo, Debbie Allen, Diahann Carroll, John Singleton and Natalie Emmanuel

The 3-part documentary series charts the revolutionary rise of black actors and filmmakers, from being the disposable backdrops, to calling the shots.
We couldn't help but notice the gaping disparity between the types of opportunities black male Actors & Filmmakers have been able to secure, in comparison to their black female counterparts. Hopefully this will be addressed in Parts 2 or 3.

Forward To A Friend

A parting message
"You have the power to make the season change
The rivers flows for you
The wind whispers your name
For me you left your throne and traded it for a crown of thorns instead
I’m saved within, not by your skin
But because your blood was red"

~ The Blood Song - Kirk Franklin
