The Communion, London

One of the world’s few certified black female Sommeliers, Cha McCoy of Cha Squared, and Chef Zoe Adjonyoh of Zoe's Ghana Kitchen have joined forces to host 'The Communion' - an intimate wine tasting and West African food pairing experience with canapés, five courses and of course, wine.
Photographer: Christian Rodriguez
The event will take place at a private dining space in East London (exact details will be shared when you book).

Wash & Go, Lagos

TV Personality Bolanle & Actress Zainab Balogun have quietly built a business together - 'WASH & GO' a new salon based in Lekki. The services are simple and focus on braids & weave. More interesting though is the customer promise - which states you will be in & out within 2 hours... yep, I know, goodbye to those long and weary salon visits (made worse by Lagos traffic!) Well done ladies.

The Niceties, Play

Picture this - America, 2016, within the stately office of an elite university, two women united by their vision for the future (but divided on how to get there) meet to review a history paper that asks a pretty loaded question. When a clash of ideas turns into a complicated discussion about race, the niceties begin to wear thin and one woman is forced to put everything on the line.
This is the London premiere of this hit off-broadway play.

Sex For Grades, Docu

Universities in Nigeria and Ghana have been plagued by stories of sexual harassment by lecturers and professors for decades. - from blackmailing students for sex in exchange for marks and admission to lewd comments and grooming.
BBC Africa Eye sent undercover journalists posing as students inside the University of Lagos (UNILAG) and the University of Ghana to capture footage of the sexual harassment.

Reporter Kiki Mordi, who knows first-hand how devastating sexual harassment can be, reveals what happens behind the closed doors of some of West Africa’s most prestigious universities.

Since the 'Sex For Grades' documentary was released, two Ghanaian lecturers Ransford Gyampo and Dr Paul Kwame Butakor propositioned undercover journalists posing as students. They have since been suspended.
Snr Lecture at UNILAG, Dr Boniface Igbeneghu has been suspended from his pastoral role by the Four Square Church and has been suspended from his academic role by the University of Lagos.

Further information and support for anyone affected by sexual assault can be found through the BBC Action Line

And He took bread, gave thanks and broke it, and gave it to them, saying, "This is My body given for you; do this in remembrance of Me". In the same way, after the supper He took the cup, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in My blood, which is poured out for you."
