The best bits from Lagos to London
+ a little in between

Year of Return
1619 marks the year of the first documented arrival of enslaved Africans in what’s today the USA. Ghana, which was a major hub during the transatlantic slave trade, declared 2019 the year of return - encouraging the African diaspora to visit the country. According to Ghana's tourism board from January to June this year, there was a 20% increase in the number of Americans visiting the country and an 11% increase in visitors from the UK, and some young African Americans even deciding to stay for good.
Tayo Aina
Tayo Aina is a videographer who's doing a fab job of bringing Nigeria to life with his drone videos. In this short one, Tayo explores Illashe Beach on the Lagos Lagoon and its numerous beach houses (oh take me back). My favourite spot is Sencillo which was designed by Nigerian Architect, Tosin Oshinowo - we previously featured her in THIS past edition. She's done a lot of impactful work and most recently curated the 2019 Lagos Biennial. Tayo & Tosin both get my vote.
Denola Gray
You can't look left or right in Nigeria without seeing Denola Gray's beautiful face. His audience just got even bigger since Netflix picked up hit Nollywood movie 'Bling Lagosians', a movie about how reckless Lagosians' can be when it comes to Owambe (parties) lol. Anyway that's by-the-by, Denola made a Naija'fied Big-Band throwback video to Barbra Streisand's "Don't Rain on my Parade", shot at Craft Gormet (right at the top of Mega Plaza in V.I)
Arron Wallace
Black British Men's Grooming brand 'Aaron Wallace' is determined to build a brand that black men everywhere can be truly proud of. The founder (Aaron Wallace) has spent the past 2 years researching & developing a line of products to help solve the hair & skin care challenges black men with afro hair face. Using only the highest quality natural ingredients including Black Seed Oil and Mango Butter (Oooh LUSH!) be sure to get the men in your lives to give it a try.

Side note: due to this CLASSIC Key & Peele skit, I can no longer pronounce the name Aaron correctly.
The Photograph

Issa Rae & Lakeith Stanfield star in 'The Photograph' and it looks cheesy AF (which basically means GIRL'S NIGHT IN! ). Bring on the🍿 and check out the trailer.
