Welcome to this week’s e-news.

Last Friday evening Leanne and I attended Faithful+Gould’s Summer Drinks and BBQ at the Baltic and despite the weather earlier on that day the sun did shine (well a little bit anyway!) and it was lovely to catch up with so many of you. We would like to thank Faithful+Gould for their kind hospitality and a lovely afternoon.

Earlier this week I was in London with my Constructing Excellence colleagues to discuss the themes for Constructing Excellence regions for the coming year.

We are delighted to announce the bookings for the 2016 Constructing Excellence National Final are now open and for those of you who were lucky recipients at the recent CENE Awards please check your emails for details on how to book. If you are interested in sponsoring one of the categories at the National Awards in November, please speak with us to find out about the benefits and marketing your organisation will receive.

Today Leanne and I are in London attending our CE colleagues, South East Centre for the Built Environment Awards at the Lancaster Hotel. Also tonight our CE colleagues in the North West are hosting the North West Construction Awards in Liverpool. We would like to wish all the finalists in these regions the best of luck and an enjoyable evening. Then tomorrow we are travelling to Leeds for the Constructing Excellence Yorkshire & Humber Awards at the New Dock, again good luck everyone!

On Sunday Leanne and I will be taking part in the Cancer Research UK Race for Life in Durham and would like to thank all those for supporting us including John Nielsen, Pete Tighe, Lisa Stafford, Mark Gardham, Jack Brayford, Lauren Proctor, Chris Sinclair, Lesley Fairley and Jackie Winship as well as family and friends.

Next Tuesday our event with DAC Beachcroft has had to be postponed due to family ill health. We do apologise for any inconvenience caused and will be in touch with a new date in due course.

There are only 6 weeks to go until our Foundation’s Charity Raceday in association with the Foundation of Light and the Sir Bobby Robson Foundation. We have some great sponsorship opportunities along with tables or individual tickets. Please see below for details or contact Leanne.

Best wishes

Race for Life 2016

Venue: The Lodge, Hole 19, Close House Golf Club, Newcastle upon Tyne, NE41 8BL

Modern business requires their employees to travel overseas in order to develop new business and maintain existing operations. Due to new potential threats during travel it is critical for the business traveller to understand where they occur, how to identify them and when to initiate risk mitigation protocols.

The workshop will look at simple practices that can be put in place to ensure that we are not exposed to current environmental risks. The topics for discussion will be about personal security, communications and information security, commercial, industrial and state sponsored espionage and finally social engineering. The workshop is tailored towards business executives who are required to travel and conduct business overseas or those responsible for deploying staff overseas needing to understand how they could be exposed to risks. This workshop has kindly been sponsored by Emirates Airlines in order to support its passengers beyond the arrivals gate, demonstrating customer focus.
