Welcome to this week’s e-news.

Last Friday afternoon was First Friday Club which was held at the Crowne Plaza in the Stephenson Quarter in association with Watson Burton. There was a great turnout and it was lovely to catch up with so many of you. If you are interested in sponsorship opportunities for First Friday Club then please contact Leanne.

On Friday evening I was a guest of CIBSE North East at their Annual Dinner at Newcastle Civic Centre. This year’s theme was going back in time to 1986 and the start of CIBSE in their previous form as the IHVE. What a fabulous night it was and I would like to thank Gerard Hosford, Chair of CIBSE NE and his committee for their wonderful hospitality.

On Tuesday evening Leanne and I attended the CIBSE North East ‘Collaborative Working and BS11000’ event at The Sandman Signature hotel in Newcastle. Bill Taylor from Institute for Collaborative Working gave an informative presentation on how to work more collaboratively and an overview of the BS11000 which is soon to become an ISO.

Yesterday morning, we held the first Club event of 2016 in conjunction with ORCA-LGS and looked at the future of Light Gauge Steel. Jon Watson of ORCA gave a great presentation on the benefits of using Light Gauge Steel followed by so case studies. If you would like a copy of the presentation or further information then please let us know.

Next week we have one event taking place on Tuesday evening. This is a G4C event ‘how to become a good leader and what makes someone a good leader’ delivered by Dave Stitt of DSA Building Performance. There are only a few spaces left so please contact Leanne if you would like to attend. The next G4C event after this will be held on March 22nd looking at the current demands of the industry which includes BIM and cloud computing. Further details are below and on our website.

We are delighted to announce Elliott Associates has kindly sponsored the Trainee of the Year category in our G4C NE Awards 2016. The judging process is well underway and we will be announcing the shortlist very soon so please keep your eyes peeled for news!
