September is Library Card Sign-Up Month!

We're celebrating by popping up FREE popcorn for all our patrons every Friday throughout the month.

We've also got plenty of programming and events to keep you occupied and active in this back-to-school transition time.

The fun starts back up on September 3!

Weekly scheduled youth programs (Music & Movement, Babygarten, Tutoring Tuesday, Early Learning Journeys, Discovery Kids, and LEGOs) will start back up on Tuesday, September 3 with Babygarten Story Time at 10:30 AM.

Teens join us the first Thursday of every month to exchange book & movie recommendations, enjoy free snacks with fellow teens, and hear what's happening at the Library and in the community!

Find some peaceful zen and get some healthy exercise here at the library in this beginner’s yoga class for adults.
Ages 18+.
Please bring a yoga mat, beach towel, or small blanket to stretch out on.

We’ll go over the layout and different areas, what you’ll be doing, and the rules for Haunted Library.

Come and go activities all day, 10:00 AM - 8:30 PM

Since our Library owns a pirate ship we must celebrate National Pirate Day!
Come & go activities will be available for families to enjoy until 30 minutes before closing.
Read our pirate storybooks in front of our pirate ship, go on a treasure hunt, play pirate themed games & make pirate themed crafts together.

Get a head start and learn to speak Pirate through our FREE online language learning database: Mango Languages.

September 19 - 20, the Friends of the Longview Public Library will be set up in the Art Hallway for a book sale!

$0.25 for kid’s books, magazines, and paperbacks.

$1.00 for everything else (excluding as marked rare/vintage book and items).

All proceeds help benefit YOUR library and library programs.
Hours for each day run 10:00 AM - 6:00 PM.
Check our Facebook those days for the announcement of special sales (Ex. Fill up a bag/box for $1.00)!

Join Ms. Gillian as kids of all ages listen to a story read aloud and learn all about recycling. Then let their imaginations run wild as they craft with recyclable materials!

Held in the Moeschle Room. Event is FREE.

Want to improve your writing skills, or get some extra help on a piece you’re working on? Join our writer’s workshop!
New members are always welcome for walk-ins.

  • Basic Excel I & II: Introductory course into Microsoft Excel that focuses on database entry and formula input to make spreadsheets and workbooks.
September 18, 10:00 AM - 1:30 PM
  • Powerpoint: Learn to use Microsoft Powerpoint and create slideshow presentation with images, transition animations, charts, tables, etc. 
September 19 & 20, 10:00 AM - 1:30 PM
  • Basic Excel I & II: Introductory course into Microsoft Excel that focuses on database entry and formula input to make spreadsheets and workbooks.
September 25 & 26, 10:00 AM - 1:30 PM
  • Word Basics I & II: Introductory course to Microsoft Word that will teach students how to create and edit a word document, use editing tools like spell check, and insert tables, footers/headers, edit margins, etc.

All operations and hours will remain active, but you might hear some echoing noise and experience a small wait at the desk due to reduced computers for check out service.
