April 2016
Now that the Easter Weekend has finished, we are starting to look a little further ahead and beginning to make preparations for the summer!

Keep your eye on you inbox over the week as we will soon be sending out some further information about the Bembridge Ball, which will be raising funds in aid of the Boulton and Paul Building.
Illusion Sailing Report

Easter Egg Cup - The forecast earlier in the week said that it was going to be an Easter of extremes and this was exactly what it turned out to be. Friday's non-trophy racing got off to an interesting start with three of the ten Illusions calling OCS and none returning. However, they all made the most of the light and variable conditions with James Axtell finishing in first place, followed by... Click here to see the full race report.

Bembridge One Design Report

The One-Designs had a very frustrating weekend and ended up without a single race. On Friday they just made the start line only to see the very gentle breeze vanish completely. After waiting in vain for half an hour for it to re-appear, everyone hitched a tow back into the harbour.

As with the Illusions that day, a pity as the breeze picked back up about half an hour later! Conditions on Saturday, Sunday & Monday were just too wild & windy, so for the first time in many years, the Oppenheim Trophy is having to be rescheduled for another weekend (9th & 10th April).

Easter Weekend at the Club
The Easter weekend began at the Club with the Annual Maundy Thursday ladies lunch, which was very well attended, and it was lovely to see so many guests from other clubs.

The Fish and Chip Supper on Good Friday was a success, and the Easter Sunday lunch had the Dining Room at capacity, with a wonderful family hubbub.

Due to Storm Katie, the Easter Egg Hunt could not take place outside, and so the children had a fabulous time playing games in the Library and Salamander Room.

Thanks go to those Members who worked very hard to make sure the Club was decorated beautifully for Easter, and assisted in many other ways to ensure these events ran smoothly, and everyone enjoyed themselves.
Cruiser Weekend in May
BSC Cruisers and Motorboats will be cruising to Beaulieu and the Medina River over the May Bank Holiday.  We have been invited by Beaulieu River Sailing Club to join their Scow Race at 5pm on Saturday 28Th May.  We are looking for more Members who would like to race a Scow – boats provided by Beaulieu.

Richard Jessel is coordinating the RIBs, who we hope will join for Saturday afternoon/evening.  On Sunday we will move to the Medina River during the day and have dinner at the Folly Inn.
Please do join us for any part of the weekend.  Full details to follow by email nearer to the time for those who have registered their interest.
Many thanks,
