Weekend Sailing Report
(30th-31st July)
After a week of nice breezes for the One-Designs, Saturday’s morning’s forecast was not very promising, however in the event there was just enough of a N Westerly breeze to make for some challenging racing for the fourteen Redwings and eight One-Designs who appeared at the start line at Under Tyne.. July at BSC
The summer is now in full swing, with Cadet Week 1 seeming a distant memory, and Cadet Week 2 now underway. We saw some fabulous weather for the first Cadet week of the season and a great time was had by all. Head over to the Members' section of the website to see some photos of the week.

Whitecliff Bay Tea - 29 boats congregated at Whitecliff Bay for our annual picnic. the Scows enjoyed a long if not slightly damp upwind sail to the bay, supported by RIBs and motor launches, and the Redwings competed for the Princessa Trophy in a steady breeze. The Commodore invited Members aboard Sea Fever to dry off and enjoy a drink before returning to the Club.
J/70 Weekend - on 16th and 17th July, many of the 18-30 Members enjoyed a fabulous weekend aboard a fleet of J/70s which came over from Cowes, a big thank you is due to all those who helped to make the weekend a great success; doing everything from helping to bring the boats over from Cowes, helming chase boats, and coaching. Thanks also to the participants for getting involved! We look forward to being able to run similar events in the future. Click here to see photos of the weekend.
Swallow Nationals - Another successful sailing weekend, and an opportunity for us to welcome sailors from Itchenor to BSC, a wonderful dinner was enjoyed in the Club, and we owe a big thank you to those who welcomed visitors to stay in their homes. Click here to see the report.
Village Regatta - A beautiful day with perfect winds. Click here to see some photos of the day.

EWCC Dinghy Regatta 26th July - This year’s EWCC Dinghy Regatta was run by BSC, Click here to read the report.
Salamander Ball - This weekend we had the Salamander Ball on Friday, which was enjoyed enormously by well over 200 attendees including the after dinner guests. thanks go to the committee for working so hard to make sure it was a success.
Race Week 1 - There was a good turn out for race week 1 despite many of our dinghy sailors participating in Gurnard week. It was lovely to see some new faces on the dinghy start line, looking forward to many more people attending Race Week 2 which runs from 8th-12th August.
Tennis Tournament - Thank you to everyone who took part in the tournament, it was a wonderful day with a great turn out.
Congratulations to our joint winners: Matt and Caroline Paskin Orr and Humphrey Dettmer.
Well done to the runners up: John Harbord-Hamond and Nigel Rawlence

Reminders
The Ball Marquee will be erected on the gravelled area in front of the Club at the beginning of the week preceding the Ball, so all performance dinghies, RS Fevas, and Topaz' will need to be moved into the Club car park. Oppy rack 'B' and half of Oppy rack 'C' will be inaccessible whilst the marquee is in place. If you are in a position to do so, we would be very grateful if Members could remove their dinghies by Saturday 6th August. this will help enormously. If you wish to sail during the week, please please let the Club know so that any dinghies remaining at the Club can be arranged in a way to ensure ease of access for those wishing to take their boats out. Likewise if you know you will not be sailing during that week but cannot remove your dinghy please let us know for the same reason.
The Scow Parade will now take place on Thursday 11th August at 17:30.
Remarkably we still have a handful of dinner tickets left for the Bembridge Ball, and plenty of after dinner tickets available. All arrangements have now been made, and the countdown to the day has begun. Don't miss out on this great Rio themed event, and raise money to restore the Historical Club building at the same time! Click here for the booking form.
The BSC Regatta is on 19th &20th August. This is one of the highlights of the BSC sailing season, and It would be great to see as many Members as possible supporting this event. There will be a disco in the Club on the Friday and the Ben Wood event on the Saturday.
Ben Wood is coming to show his latest Mariquita film in the Club on Saturday 20th August, you may remembers his visit last yer was very popular with Members, and as it falls on the BSC Regatta weekend, we are inviting other EWCC regatta participants along for the evening. Click here to book.
