A very Happy New Year to you all!

Last night those of us who were fortunate to be at the Club saw in the New Year in great style. Many thanks to Katharine Toogood and Emma Heyman for organising such a great party.

I want particularly to thank Members for giving so generously to the Staff Fund this year. Contributions exceeded last year both in the number of contributions received and in the total amount raised. This is incredibly motivating for our wonderful staff and an appropriate way for us to say thank you for all they do for us. The Fund will remain open for a couple more weeks if you have not yet contributed and would like to do so.

With very best wishes for 2017

Christmas Cracker 28 – 29 December 2016

Two beautiful sunny days with just enough wind to make for some testing racing for this year’s re-scheduled Bembridge Illusion Christmas Cracker.
With Wednesday’s light SE breeze forecast to get up slightly, it was decided to keep racing in the harbour for the twelve Illusionists who had got up early for the first start at 09:30; in the event a good decision as by the end of racing the sea conditions outside look distinctly unsuitable for Illusions!

New Year's Eve

News from the House Team

Ellie's Adventures

You may have noticed that Ellie has returned from her travels and is back behind the bar for a short while, before she jets off in February to continue her work in Nepal for ‘All Hands Volunteers’. This is a volunteer-powered disaster relief organisation aiding communities all over the world.
Ellie has been volunteering in an area near Kathmandu which was devastated by two earthquakes in the spring of 2015; over 9000 people lost their lives and a further 23000 were injured.

One of the main focal points for All Hands Volunteers in Nepal is rebuilding a future for the children in the community, and Ellie stayed out there for two months helping to build schools and will be returning to continue in the spring.
Tales from Tom's Kitchen

The Club is now the proud owner of a new meat grinder. Chef Tom is looking forward to experimenting to develop the perfect BSC burger for you all to enjoy in the Summer. He is off on a trip along Route 66 in the early Spring and will be sure to do lots of research along the way. Watch this space for a 'Burger Bonanza' evening coming soon!
