Campfire Tales
Newsletter #7

It's perfect barbecue weather and our Hand-Cut Smoky Campfire Marmalade was created just for these moments.   Guaranteed to make your sausages sizzle and great for garden glamping, this smoky wonder has been called a gamechanger.  The newsletter this week features our most illustrious marmalade.

Many thanks for your continued correspondence - it's lovely to hear your news too.  This was a real highlight: "Thank you again so much for delivering our marmalade the other night. At such an uncertain time, little acts like that mean a lot and your marmalade is simply the best. With lockdown, somehow food has become the highlight of the day and to still be able to get these little jars of magic is a reminder that, despite everything, we are very lucky and life is good!"

Hope you continue to stay safe as the lockdown eases.
All best wishes

This versatile marmalade does what it says on the tin, it conjures up cooking round a campfire. Amazing with a full British breakfast, brunch or BBQs, it's also the perfect accompaniment to sausages, bacon sandwiches, burgers, grilled halloumi and makes a marvellous marinade for stir fried tempeh.  It has certainly earned our hashtag #notjustfortoast and can be used in so many different ways - whether it's to create the perfect Duck à l'Orange as mentioned last week or partnered with merguez sausages, as I did at the Turner & George stand at Selfridges, the results are delicious.  It's been pictured on Instagram with avocado on toast.  It champions cheese. My mother uses it for a roast ham glaze.  A fan in Brussels told me they love eating it as an open tartine with Manilife peanut butter.  Omnivore or Vegan, let us know your favourite way of enjoying our most popular marmalade!

How it all began: Hand-Cut Smoky Campfire Marmalade

Shortly after it's creation this Marmalade won Double Gold at the World Marmalade Awards - the highest accolade in the World of Marmalade.  Thousands of people from all over the globe send in their marmalade to be tasted by a distinguished panel of judges at Dalemain Mansion in Cumbria.  It was a huge honour to receive our Double Gold Certificate from Ewan Venters, CEO of Fortnum & Mason, and to be informed of the prize - a year's listing at Fortnum's Piccadilly Emporium.

Fortnum & Mason Launch

The prize-winning marmalade was piped in by bagpipes for the official Fortnum & Mason breakfast launch.  The judges had unanimously declared "Radnor Preserves has created the perfect savoury marmalade"; eminent baker Dan Lepard added at the launch that it "promises to take the world by storm."

"The biggest revelation of the morning was how much a smoky marmalade enhanced a sausage sandwich –  a serious discovery. Really, you shouldn’t knock it until you try it –  I can tell you, a jar of the smoky orange marmalade has found its place between the brown sauce and ketchup on my breakfast table."  Rachel Walker

Our Hand-Cut Smoky Campfire Marmalade has been served at some pretty amazing places around the world including BAFTA, British Embassies in Paris, Shanghai, Dublin and Dubai and weddings in Long Island and Delhi.  Pictured is a special event at the Tate Gallery for the YBF Awards which resulted in this marmalade and some of our chutneys being served at the Tate Gallery's Rex Whistler Restaurant under resident chef Tony Martin.

Marmalade Hotdogs

Acclaimed Food Writer Lindsey Bareham featured the Hand-Cut Smoky Campfire Marmalade in Dinner Tonight, her recipe column for The Times.

"Provides bonfire flavour without poking in the ashes"

Only 200 recipes from Lindsey Bareham's recipe column were selected for publication - we were thrilled that Marmalade Hotdogs with Lemon Roast Sweet Potatoes made the final cut.

Fine Food Digest

It is always wonderful to hear how much everyone enjoys this marmalade.  Felicity Cloake chose it as her Magic Ingredient for the Fine Food Digest, published by the Guild of Fine Food, last autumn.  Felicity has just been shortlisted for the Guild of Food Writers for her brilliant 'Perfect' recipe column in The Guardian.  If anyone missed her Welsh Rarebit recipe mentioned in one of our earlier newsletters, the link is here:

The Pickling Papers

Father's Day

Last but not least, as this article from Cardiff Life Magazine recommends, our Hand-Cut Smoky Campfire Marmalade is of course the perfect present - this year, Father's Day falls on Sunday 21st June.
