Following December’s multistakeholder workshop in Dawei, Fauna and Flora International (FFI) and MCRB are providing input into the newly founded Tanintharyi Tourism Development Committee headed by Serge Pun to encourage sustainable tourism in the Myeik Archipelago and Tanintharyi Region.
FFI and MCRB have identified the immediate need for a tourism zoning plan to protect the most sensitive areas damaging from hotel development, while ensuring that ecotourism including diving can support conservation. Environmental and social standards are also needed for tourism infrastructure in the area. If you have an interest in this topic, please contact theinthan.htay@myanmar-responsiblebusiness.org
