Click the image to watch a special announcement!
Classes and projects have been completed and final exams have been taken. Now it’s time for members of the American Baptist College Class of 2023 to commemorate their accomplishments, and the entire ABC community is invited to join the celebration.

Both the Baccalaureate and Commencement services will be held at Jefferson Street Missionary Baptist Church, located at 2708 Jefferson Street in Nashville.
The Baccalaureate service will take place Wednesday, May 17, at 6 p.m. Central time. The speaker will be Dr. B. Lamont Monford Sr., pastor of Philippian Missionary Baptist Church in Lima, Ohio, and president of the American Baptist College Alumni Association.
The Commencement ceremony will be held on Thursday, May 18, at 11 a.m. Central time. The speaker will be Bishop E. Anne Henning Byfield from the 13th Episcopal District of the African Methodist Episcopal Church.
Plan to be a part of these very special events as we celebrate our graduates and celebrate American Baptist College … On the Road to 100!

Building a Culture of Safety

Members of the ABC campus community participated in a valuable and timely training last month covering the basic knowledge and skills needed for an active shooter response.
“This is a very important exercise – the first of its kind for us to help build a culture of safety and appropriate response,” said President Forrest Harris. “Active shooter situations occur around the country, but you never expect them to happen in your community, or at your school. We cannot be cautious enough or prepared enough. We are committed to having a safe campus for students, faculty, staff, and our visitors. Still, an active shooter event is something we hope will never happen, not just at ABC, but anywhere.”
The training was led by Hendrell Remus, director of the Office of Emergency Management at Tennessee State University, and TSU’s terrorism liaison for the Department of Homeland Security.

“I’m glad we have an opportunity to continue building partnerships between Tennessee State University and American Baptist College,” Remus said. “The stronger we are together, the safer our communities will always be.”
