Changes to patrols
at Harbour Beach

As of Monday (Dec 7), Harbour Beach will be patrolled on weekends, school holidays and public holidays only, until May 3, 2021.

This will bring it into line with the four other patrolled beaches in the Mackay region – Bucasia, Eimeo, Sarina and Lambert’s Beach.

The changes are a result of the decreasing number of people using Harbour Beach and rising costs.

Hay Point Transfer Station closed

Hay Point Transfer Station will be closed until further notice due to potential contamination.

This temporary closure will enable assessment of the material and to understand if the material is safe or if it requires additional management, before reopening the site to the public.

To assist residents, Sarina Transfer Station will now be open from 10am to 5pm everyday while Hay Point is closed, and council is encouraging residents to use this alternative transfer station.
