Council calls for 'true blue' events

We’ve got $8000 up for grabs to assist Aussie Day events in our region in January.

Local not-for-profit groups can apply for up to $1000 to help support their Australia Day event and share their Aussie pride with residents.

New scoreboard
to kick big goals

A crane helped lift a new scoreboard into place at BB Print Stadium Mackay this morning.
 
The giant screen can stream live coverage of games at the stadium, complete with video replays, and can also be used for events like movie nights.

A new exhibition in Gallery One features the works of William T Cooper, the man Sir David Attenborough called “Australia’s greatest living scientific painter of birds – possibly the best in the world”.

We’re starting repairs on some of the beaches worst affected by Cyclone Debbie.

The Queensland Reconstruction Authority (QRA) has approved $400,000 for council to complete emergency beach and foreshore repairs in preparation for the upcoming storm season.

Councillors
out and about

Our councillors were in the Northern Suburbs yesterday (Wednesday, November 1) for their monthly Council in Community Day.
 
The day-long agenda of meetings, briefings and inspections included a visit to the Rotary Lookout in North Mackay, which is set for an upgrade.

There was also a community catch-up with residents at North Mackay Bowls Club.
