Bursary quadrupled to help young artists

Artspace Mackay Foundation has quadrupled its annual Rick Woods Hands On Bursary. This means young artists can have the opportunity to further their creative careers more than ever before. The Foundation has made a substantial increase to the bursary from $1000 to $4000 to foster the next generation of arts professionals from our region.
President of the Foundation Julie Boyd said Foundation members were excited about the increase in the bursary and couldn’t wait to see what entrants would submit this year.
“With the significant increase to the bursary, the recipient will be able to take advantage of opportunities that might have otherwise been beyond their financial means,” said Mrs Boyd.
The decision to increase the funding was proposed so that the foundation could help local university students get ahead and start their future in the industry that they love.
All young artists interested in applying for the bursary must provide the foundation with a letter outlining why they should be considered, a resume of artistic achievements and a disc of images of their works.
Applications close on Monday, January 22, 2018, with the winner to be announced in early February.
