#MackayPride on show for Canberra visitors


They’ve come, they’ve seen and they’ve had their cameras shooting.

Phillip and Margaret Anderson ventured to Mackay from Canberra, thanks to an invite from Phillip’s brother Shane and his wife Giselle.

The couple took advantage of free flights and accommodation, thanks to helloworld Mackay and Oaks Rivermarque, after Giselle won the #MackayPride Share your Pride competition we organised last November.

Feedback sought on wetlands


We want to redevelop a new wetlands and recreational area in the old cane paddock opposite Masters Home Improvement.

Council hopes to return the parcel of land between Holts and Beaconsfield roads to a wetlands area and is seeking public feedback on a recently completed concept design.

Help to spruce up shop fronts


We are offering up to $3000 to local property and business owners interested in sprucing up their shop fronts.

This funding is made possible via the Mackay Pride Facade Improvement Scheme, with round two applications now open.

$5000 Bursaries on offer


We’ve got five $5000 Academic Bursaries up for grabs.

If you’re a university student in your second-last year of study in the areas of Engineering, Information Technology, Accounting, Planning or Environmental Health, and are from the Mackay region, make sure you apply before April 1.

Don’t forget to vote this Saturday

Don’t forget to vote in the Mackay Regional Council election.

Polling booths will be open from 8am to 6pm this Saturday (March 19) for the local government election, which will also include a State Government referendum on state parliamentary terms.

Pre-poll and postal voting is also available.

Kicking goals with new facilities

We played an important role in the relocation of the junior soccer fields from Barbour Park to Glenella.

Council contributed $2.3 million towards associated infrastructure for the new site, such as roads, water and sewerage.

The new Mackay Football Park was officially opened at the weekend.
