Show your pride and help tidy region
Our Great Northern Clean Up is on this Saturday (September 1) and Sunday (September 2).
 
This annual event is a perfect opportunity for residents to show their community pride and help keep Mackay beautiful.

Christmas grants
spread festive cheer

We’re asking community groups to start planning their Christmas celebrations and we have financial incentives up for grabs. 
 
Groups can apply for up to $750 from a $10,000 Christmas grants pool.

New operator for aquatic facilities

We’ve announced that experienced managers Belgravia Leisure will dive in to the city’s aquatic facilities to take on their day to day management.
 
Belgravia Leisure has been awarded a five-year contract to operate the new aquatic facility at the soon-to-be-opened $23 million Mackay Regional Sports Precinct.
 
The contract also includes management of the existing Pioneer and Memorial pools.

Sarina pool
given make-over

Our Sarina pool is currently getting a make-over and is expected to open a little later than usual.
 
The pool, operated by experienced local company Brylaw Pty Ltd, is now expected to reopen by the first week of October.

Casey Avenue
upgrades roll on

The first stage of our upgrades to Casey Avenue are almost complete.
 
The work involved upgrading the northern end of Casey Avenue between Leisure Street and Bridge Road.
 
Stage two will begin next week as soon as the finishing touches to stage one are finalised.

for exhibition

Get "on yer bike" and check out the newest exhibition at our Artspace Mackay.
 
The On yer bike exhibition features restored motorcycles from our region and the stories behind them.
 
It opens tomorrow (Friday, August 31) and is the perfect opportunity to treat dad or granddad to a special Father’s Day outing over the weekend.
