Join the biggest community clean up

This Saturday (August 31) is your chance to help make Mackay clean, green and pristine.

The Great Northern Clean Up is on this weekend and there are seven registered sites where you can lend a hand.

Fast fact: Last year, residents picked up more than 2.5 tonnes of rubbish - that’s equivalent to the weight of an adult giraffe!

Artspace exhibition
to tour nationally

Violent Salt is a thought-provoking exhibition that gives a voice to marginalised, underrepresented and silenced Australians.

From Friday (August 30), it will be on display in Artspace Mackay’s FIELD Engineers Gallery until November 24.

This exhibition is particularly exciting for Mackay as it is presented by Artspace Mackay and will go on to tour the country.

You’ll be amazed by what you will learn, like the fact that our Sugar Shed’s miniature working sugar mill and distillery is the only one of its kind in Australia.

Collect your passport at any of the facilities in the Field of Dreams.

Revved and ready

The iconic Beach Motorcycle Races at Grasstree Beach is the only competitive beach motorcycle race in Australia, one of only several in the world.

The 2019 event is almost here – it’s happening on Sunday, September 8.

The race attracts around 350 riders, from all around Australia, and draws about 5000 spectators. Catering for thrill seekers and beach-goers, the event provides a family-friendly atmosphere.
