Intersection upgrade works progress

Drainage works at the intersection of Milton and Archibald streets are set to commence this month.

The current T-intersection has reached capacity and an intersection upgrade is under way.

These upgrade works include the installation of a single-lane roundabout to cater for higher volumes of traffic and improve road safety in the area, as well as new trunk drainage infrastructure which will improve flood immunity in the area.

Register your pet and SAVE

Pet owners who want to claim a discount on their pet registration will need to register before June 30.

Depending on the animal and pet owner’s circumstances, the discount can range between a 30 to 50 per cent reduction in fees.

Registering your pet is an important part of being a responsible pet owner as it ensures that if your pet goes missing, we have your most up-to-date contact details so we can return your pet to you as soon as possible.

Vikings to battle at new Eungella event

The clamour of Vikings doing battle in full armour will echo throughout the Eungella township thanks to an exciting new event, which received council support this week.

The Eungella Ancient Arts and Crafts Fayre, planned for October this year, was awarded a $6808 Regional Arts Development Fund (RADF) grant.

All up, as part of this funding round, 15 applications were approved to a total value of $66,678.

Kinchant Dam Open Day happening TOMORROW

If you are looking for something to do with the family tomorrow (Saturday, June 19), head out to Kinchant Dam between 10am to 2pm.
 
There will be displays from our local emergency and community support services including State Emergency Service - Mackay Regional Unit, Maritime Safety Qld, Qld Fire & Emergency Services and Qld Ambulance.
 
The SES team will also host an on-water demonstration for the public to enjoy, which will take place at approximately 11.30am.

Pathway works continue at Seaforth

Works on stages two and three of Yakapari-Seaforth Road shared pathway are under way.

These final stages will connect the pathway from Seaforth Reservoir Road to Seaforth Rural Fire Brigade.

The 1.4km pathway will provide greater connectivity and safety for students, cyclists and pedestrians travelling along Yakapari-Seaforth Road.

City Silent Disco Tours

An exciting new event is happening next month as part of Mackay Festival of Arts.
 
Starting at the MECC, make your way through the busy streets of the City Centre serenading diners and spreading happiness with the flamboyant and funny team from Guru Dudu’s Silent Disco Walking Tours.
 
Featuring spontaneous flash mobs, interpretive dance, group singing, there are lots of fun interactions with on lookers.
