Announcing the 2016 Alexia Grant Recipients

The winner of the $20,000 Professional Grant is Aaron Vincent Elkaim of Toronto, Canada for Where the River Runs Through, which examines the consequences of Brazil’s major hydroelectric expansion on the ecosystems, communities and industries within the Amazon Rainforest. Alvaro Ybarra Zavala received a Judges Special Recognition Award, for Colombia, The Parallel State.

The winner of the First Place Student Grant is Nathaniel Brunt for 
#shaheed, a study of the war in the Kashmir Valley. José Marquéz, Gabriela Arp, Sarah Blesener and Nick Wagner received Student Award of Excellence Grants.

Look3: Alexia at 25

Join us in celebrating 25 years with a special Alexia exhibition at the Look3 Festival of the Photography in Charlottesville, Va, June 13-19. On display will be the work of Alexia recipients Mary F. Calvert and Aaron Vincent Elkaim in a downtown space.


Paolo Marchetti's The Price of Vanity will be at Head On Photo Festival Apr. 30-May 8.

Alexia Down Under

From April 30-May 8, we are exhibiting Paolo Marchetti's, The Price of Vanity, at the Head On Photo Festival in Sydney, Australia. 

June 1-6, Executive Administrator Jim Dooley, will represent Alexia at the Auckland Festival of Photographypresenting Alexia projects, screening The Long Night, speaking on an educator's panel and reviewing portfolios.

The Long Night's Impact

Tim Matsui continues to create change with his Women's Initiative Project, The Long Night, screening the film and leading an impact campaign nationwide. Learn more and get involved...
