Open Technologies and Vancity Credit Union have teamed up to release a new report – "Stuck: Why home electrification is lagging in British Columbia and what must be done to break the deadlock on residential carbon retrofits".

The new report summarizes the findings of a trip of public-opinion studies conducted in the past year. OPEN, in collaboration with Vancity, commissioned the research to better understand the factors that inform homeowner decisions to upgrade or replace their space and water heating equipment, including home age and characteristics, and the factors that create barriers to starting or finishing retrofits.

OPEN has a new software developer on our team! This month, we are pleased to welcome Bryan Luu to our development team.

Bryan is a budding software developer passionate about applying technology towards societal issues, with an emphasis on meaningful and people-driven work. Through his broad experience, he has continually sought to learn new things and develop his skill-set as an engineer. He is excited to be fighting for OPEN’s mission of making net-zero buildings a reality.

Outside of work, he enjoys scuba-diving, playing piano, and practicing his maker skills.
