NashvilleHealth Hosts Timely Conversation on COVID & Re-Opening Nashville

NashvilleHealth Chairman Bill Frist, M.D. recently facilitated an informative virtual discussion on re-opening Nashville amid COVID with Meharry Medical College President James Hildreth, Ph.D., M.D. and Metro Nashville Board of Health Chair Alex Jahangir, M.D.

Dr. Hildreth encouraged continued vaccinations saying "When you get vaccinated you are not just protecting yourself you are helping us create a wall around the virus where it has nowhere to go."

The event, sponsored by BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee, was part of the All In: Conversations on Health speaker series hosted by NashvilleHealth, the Metro Public Health Department and the Nashville Health Care Council.

Nashville Launches COVID-19 Response Review

NashvilleHealth, in partnership with the Nashville Area Chamber of Commerce, Nashville Health Care Council, and Meharry Medical College Center for the Study of the Social Determinants of Health, has launched the Nashville COVID-19 Response Review, a forward-thinking look at our citywide response to the COVID pandemic with the goal of readying the city for the next health crisis.

The review, conducted with Washington D.C.-based Avalere Health, will explore five key domains, including the area’s pandemic infrastructure preparedness, economic response, policy response, public health and healthcare response, and approach to vaccine rollout. It will prioritize how Nashville has addressed the needs of vulnerable populations.

A Steering Committee comprised of more than 20 diverse community leaders is guiding the project. A final report with recommendations for preparedness will be available in the fall.
