Appreciate all of your efforts in keeping the club safe in this trying time.
Below are frequently asked questions on club operations.
However, I have to say the #1 question I receive is how is the family doing.
We are all doing great!  Mckenzie is growing up very fast and Will is all over the place!
Moving forward let's all do our part in continuing to make sure everyone around us is safe.
Hopefully by doing so we can get back to as close to normal as possible in the near future.

April Financial Report

The good news:
Member support has been tremendous.
Membership totals increased by 2 in April.  
Daily revenue for April was virtually identical to last April .
Revenue showed an increase from last year of approximately $30,000 when including new lifetime memberships.
Daily food sales for April were the 7th highest monthly total in the history of MCCC.
Cart fees in April were the highest for April since point of sale system was put into place.
Merchandise sales increased by nearly $6,000 over last April.
Addition of 2 lifetime memberships totaling $30,000

The bad news:
Losses in revenues included $7,135 in guest green fees.
$5,000 in membership initiation fees.
Loss of $14,135 in catering and alcohol sales.

Moving forward:
Last year daily income in May was approximately $55,000 higher than in April.
If the club operates through May in the same fashion as April the club will lose significant income.

This is due to lack of caterings, member parties, alcohol sales, tournaments and pool income.

In 2019 from April through September the club gained a net 50 members.
The club is not expecting to gain the same amount of members through September.
This will negatively impact revenues in the future.

Great news:
Club has received $208,000 through the payroll protection program.
With your continued support the hope is this money will more than cover potential short term and long term losses.

Frequently asked questions:
When will the clubhouse and pool be able to open in some kind of capacity?

Club is working to be prepared to open the clubhouse and pool as early as May 22nd.
As of today, May 22nd is being said to be the earliest a Phase 2 of reopening of North Carolina will take place.

What are the plans for clubhouse construction?
Lee Dixon and Coastal Architecture of Morehead City are working on construction drawings.
Construction plans are on track to finish within the next 6 months.
Project is moving forward, however a start date has not been determined.

Will there be limitations in how the clubhouse and pool are used once they open?
Most certainly there will be capacity restrictions on the clubhouse and pool.
Social distancing guidelines will also most likely be in place for both the pool and clubhouse.

What safety precautions will the club take once the clubhouse and pool are opened?
Increased staff will assist in sanitizing clubhouse, pool and surrounds throughout the day.

Golf Maintenance:
Goal for the remainder of the year is to greatly improve turf conditions.
Improving turf will provide great playing conditions while also defining fairways and rough.

The course was fertilized again this week and is on the edge of taking off.
To this point cool nightly temperatures have limited bermuda growth.

In fact April realized more nightly lows in the 40's than in the 60's.
For ultimate growth low temperatures need to be almost exclusively in the 60's.

Cultivation practices have already begun to improve turf
and will continue at different times throughout the season.

These practices include aeriating tees, fairways and rough.
Topdressing tees,fairways & greens.
Verticutting greens and ultimately verticutting fairways.

Additionally the club is working diligently to beautify the course.
A 20% increase in pine straw spread was completed throughout the course.

A number of sod projects have taken place with several to come in the next few weeks.
Member Tim Depp and his crew with Cutting Time have been working on projects such
as the front entrance along with beautification of the mounds on the 18th hole.
Last week Tim and his crew started a major project behind the 15th green up to the 16th tee.
This will be a 4 phase project.  The grasses planted on 15 & 18 will begin to flourish in warm weather.
The clubs grounds crew has begun seeding of love grass on several holes.
Most notably between the blue and green tees on hole 16.

Course is having additional wear and tear due to one player per cart.
In an effort to improve turf conditions the staff has increased gps restricted zones. 
Zones have also been placed for handicap carts.
Reminder do not drive between the green and a bunker or between a tee and a bunker.
Such areas are now zoned restricted on holes 3,5,10,11,13,14, 17 & 18.

Additionally right of the green on holes 7 & 8 are restricted.
Non handicap players are to stay on the cart path on par 3's.
Non handicap players are to stay on the cart path around tees.
Handicap players should only take carts off the path on par 3's or by tees when necessary.
All players are to abide by 90 degree rule when available.

Select prohibited zones now shut the carts off.
If your cart is shut off you will need to lift the seat and place cart in tow.
Your cart will need to be manually pushed until you are out of the restricted zone.

Please repair your ball marks.
Additional greens growth with warm weather will also assist with ball marks.
Please help the crew in their goal of having the best greens possible by repairing your ball marks.

Reminder driving range will be closed on Tuesdays from 10-2 for maintenance.

To assist the staff, ensure safety, protect course conditions 
and assist with proper pace of play you are asked to abide by the following guidelines:

Check in with the golf shop before play.
Abide by cart rules for the day.
No fivesomes before 2:00

No one under the age of 16 is to drive a cart anywhere on site.
Golfers are not to tee off on their second nine before 9:00.

All handicap golfer are to present handicap tag or doctors note to staff.

Be mindful of pace of play
Pace of play is to be 3 hours & 45 minutes or less. 
Allocations allowed for cart path only days & tournaments.
If you have an open hole in front of your group at any time you are to let faster players through.

Please take note:
Violations of the rules above will result in a warning.
Additional violation to result in a $100 fine.
Next violation to result in temporary suspension of club.
Further violations will result in actions determined by Board of Directors.

The club is wishing to serve the membership in the safest manner possible.
When visiting the club to play golf or to pick up takeout you should never at 
any place on the property gather with more than 10 people.
This especially includes socializing before or after your round of golf.
Again do not gather, whether it be under the porch of the clubhouse or
on the putting green.  Do no gather anywhere on the property.

Government Order:
Section 3. Mass Gatherings
For the reasons and pursuant to the authority set forth above:
A. Section 1 (a) of Executive Order Nos. 117 and 120 is rescinded and replaced as follows:
1. A mass gathering is defined as any event or convening that brings together more than
ten (10) persons in a single room or single space at the same time, such as an
auditorium, stadium, arena, large conference room, meeting hall, or any other confined
indoor or outdoor space. This includes parades, fairs and festivals.
4. Pursuant to N.C. Gen. Stat. §§ 166A-19.30(a)(2), -19.30(c) the provisions of this
section shall be enforced by state and local law enforcement officers.

Given the rapidly changing nature of COVID-19, we wanted to share some information
publicly that has been discussed and implemented with our staff and set by our Board of Directors.

-Golf course is currently open. 
-Members are allowed to bring guest.  Members please be responsible when doing so.

-Reciproal play is not allowed from other clubs for the time being.
-All food & beverage operations is takeout.
-All golf tournaments & events are cancelled through April.
-All member transactions in food & beverage will be member charge only.  15% gratuity will be added on all takeout. 
-Members are asked not to sign member charge tickets.

-Food & Beverage hours of operations will be from 7 to 8. 
Exceptions Sunday through Tuesday closes at 7. 
Monday clubhouse opens at 10.

-Golf tee times available beginning at 8, Monday tee times begin at 11.
-Call in is strongly encouraged for takeout.  252.726.4917
-Clubhouse use only for using touch-less water dispenser, bathrooms and golf shop.
-With the size of golf shop & snack bar capacity for each room is 4 people.
-Water coolers are being removed from the golf course, please bring your own water.
-Ball washers have been removed

-Bunker rakes are being removed.
-Do not remove flag-stick at any time. 
-Protective rings have been placed around the cup not allowing the ball to go in the hole.

-Sand bottles on carts used to fill divots will be taken out of use. 
-Golfers are to play one to a cart, unless players are immediate family.

Please do not remove the green liner surrounding the hole. 
Holes are cut to allow green covers to be slightly under the surface.

-As a staff we are intensifying sanitation throughout.
-Golf carts will be cleaned after each use.
-All members and guest are to use the hand sanitizer provided by clubhouse entrances and to practice proper hygiene.
 -Please practice social distancing.
-All are encouraged to bring their own sanitizers & wipes.

If you or a guest or family member visiting the club has recently traveled internationally,
we respectfully ask that you refrain from visiting the club for 14 days.

If you are feeling unwell or showing any symptoms,
please self-exclude yourself from visiting the club until you can confirm that you are not carrying the virus.
The same will be expected of our staff to remain at home when they are not feeling well to keep members and their team members safe and healthy.

Symptoms of COVID-19 can range from mild illness to pneumonia and include:
Fever, flu-like symptoms like coughing, sore throat and fatigue, shortness of breath

Hygiene tips suggested by the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) are:
  • Sneezing or coughing into the bend of your elbow to prevent germs from spreading
  • Regularly washing your hands with soap and water, along with using alcohol-based hand sanitizers in between washing
  • Avoid sharing cups, spoons, forks with anyone
  • Don’t make food for anyone if you are sick
  • Don’t go to work or school if you are sick
  • Visit a doctor, urgent care or emergency room if you are sick—don’t take chances
