What's this?  A Pediatric Therapeutics newsletter?  Isn't Pediatric Therapeutics on Facebook now too? And the website...it used to change, maybe twice a year, and now there's new information up regularly.  What's going on?!?

The truth of the matter...everything's the same!  Pediatric Therapeutics therapists continue to be extraordinarily committed to the kids and families with whom they work, they're busy pursuing special areas of expertise and interest, and they're passionate about it all. We've simply decided it's time to let people know what we're up to.

So here it is...newsletter #1, including info about an educational leaders' mini-summit in which Sheila's participating, the transition from the weekly exercise group to another upcoming season for the Pediatric Therapeutics running group, and our first knitting group. Please follow us on Facebook and visit our website too.  As we step deeper into the land of social media, we're sure glad to know you're with us!

HAPPY March,
Sheila and Anne

An Interview with Sheila Allen

Pediatric Therapeutics Co-Director Sheila Allen, OT joins Mariam Herrmann in conversation for Learning Cultures Defined, a free online mini-summit for principals and educational leaders on March 10, 2016.  Check out www.mariamherrmann.com to learn more about the summit.  Pass this along to your favorite educational leader!

Working out's more fun when you're part of a group...just ask the participants of the weekly exercise group at Pediatric Therapeutics. They've wrapped up a fifteen week fitness program. Guided by Carrie Beiter, OT and Miriam Cohen, PT, each child worked on strength, endurance, coordination and confidence, while engaging in exercises that centered around a weekly group theme. "Cooperation", one of the group's themes, is pictured here. The Exercise Group is a spin off from the 5K Running Group, coached by Carrie and Miriam, in which members train to complete a 5K.  The next season of the Running Group is scheduled to begin on 3/24Click here to find out more about running at Pediatric Therapeutics.
Knitting.  Pediatric Therapeutics OT Missy Briody and Certified Knitting Instructor Denise Mortensen recognize its value as a fine motor activity and concentration-builder, as well as
a tool for mindfulness.  A recent
NY Times article identified the health benefits of knitting
beyond stress management and anxiety relief.  Missy and Denise are bringing knitting to Pediatric Therapeutics on Monday March 14, from 3:30-4:15, for ages 7 and up, when they will offer a
free finger knitting lesson to kids and their parents. Call 973-635-0202 for more details and to sign up.  Space is limited. Experienced knitters are welcome to come to help!
