Happy May!  This month brings many celebratory moments from Mother’s Day to Memorial Day. Spring has awakened and it strikes a chord of rebirth and renewal. It is also Better Hearing and Speech Month where we shine a bright light on the field of Speech-Language Pathology. At Pediatric Therapeutics our SLPs bring knowledge, experience and FUN to their sessions and to the families and children we serve. We gratefully acknowledge their extraordinary efforts! Karen Betheil, Maureen Harper, and Terri Jones join both of us along with each member of our staff in saluting all the amazing mothers and grandmothers who grace our office each and every day. We wouldn’t be here without all of you!

All our best,
Anne and Sheila
QUESTION OF THE MONTH
Each month, the staff of Pediatric Therapeutics will answer a
question asked by parents, professionals or patients.

This month’s query is:  How do I know if my preschooler is on target with his/her speech and language development?

This is a frequently asked question and one that has many different answers.  The range of “typical” is expansive but in general, there are developmental milestones and benchmarks SLPs look for and may include some of the following for 2, 3 and early 4 year olds.

At Pediatric Therapeutics, our Speech-Language Pathologists (SLPs) work to prevent, assess, diagnose, and treat speech, language, social communication, cognitive-communication, and swallowing disorders in children.  We work very closely with family members and frequently collaborate with physicians, school personnel and other health professionals to provide a unified approach to treatment.  In asking our SLPs to share one of their favorite treatment activities, the responses are all varied and interesting with one common thread.  Can you guess each therapist’s choice?  FIND OUT BY CLICKING HERE!

Carrie Beiter, Occupational Therapist, and Miriam Cohen, Physical Therapist are once again joining forces to offer an exercise group that will be a combination of indoor gym activity and outdoor exercise with a home exercise program included.  Currently looking for members to join in the fun and fitness.
