Greetings from the President
July 22, 2021
Recovering from 16 months of limited activity due to the Covid-19 pandemic is proving to be difficult! Not just for me trying to get out and about, but also for our beloved MVUUC campus. There are areas of our facility that have had little use during the shutdown, and these areas are in need of some TLC. This includes our landscaping, patio, and classrooms.
Our infrastructure is also having difficultly as it is being used more and more. There are potential issues with our water supply that may have considerable short-term impact on the use of some of our facilities. The Board and the Facilities and Finance Committees are prepared to deal with these issues as they arise.
The Board is also aware that we need to improve the technical aspects of our Zoom hybrid Sunday Services.
There are several exciting and important activities coming up between now and the end of 2021:
1. The update to the MVUUC By-Laws (aka our Constitution). A working copy of the revised By-Laws is being reviewed. The schedule is to have the copy-edited document shared in time to be ready for Congregational approval in October 2021. There will be a Special Congregational Meeting with the sole agenda being the approval of the changes, and adoption of our updated By-Laws.
2. The Contract-to-Call process is underway. The current schedule is that the formal “Call” process will begin on September 12, 2021 with guest minister Rev. Anne Hines speaking about the importance of Called Ministry. A Congregational survey will be unveiled at that time, followed shortly thereafter by small groups meetings to gather more information about how our congregation wants to direct our future. A Special Congregational meeting is scheduled for November 21, 2021 with the sole agenda item to be to offer a Call to Settled Ministry to Rev Maggie Yenoki.
The Board of Trustee met on June 16, 2021 and here are some of the highlights:
The Board agrees to continue the current policy that ALL people inside the building wear a mask, regardless of vaccination status. When outside of the building, wearing a mask is optional IF social distancing is used.
The Board voted to approve renew both of our Zoom licenses for one year.
Motion 2021-0721-01: Move to renew two (2) Zoom licenses at a cost not to exceed $150 per license. Funding source is from budget group #6400 General & Admin Expenses, not Spirit Level Grant fund.
Thanks, to each of you for your support of our Beloved Community!
