IAK follows the Center for Disease Control's (CDC), Whole School, Whole Community, Whole Child (WSCC) Model. Social & Emotional Climate is one of ten components in the model. IAK offers a variety of social and emotional health education topics including: Mindfulness, Classroom Cohesion, Bully Prevention, Stress Management, Conflict Resolution, and Responsible Decision Making.  These fun and interactive lessons are 30 minutes done in the classroom.  During each lesson IAK provides information and resources that teachers can further utilize in their classroom.  If you are interested in any of our Social & Emotional Climate topics, please contact your district's Health Educator to get scheduled!

If you want to learn more about the WSCC Model's Social & Emotional Climate component, please visit our website.
October is Bully Prevention Month!  Many of our partnering schools are celebrating Bully Prevention Month with our Bully Busters Assembly!  IAK is partnering with the Tulsa Drillers once again this year to bring this fun and interactive assembly for K-2nd graders to your school.  If you are interested in having Bully Busters come to your school, contact Ashley Cutright to get scheduled.

Tulsa's Anti-Bullying Collaboration has developed a Bully Prevention Month Toolkit for teachers to use in the classroom.   The toolkit targets elementary school students to grade 6.  The following is included in the toolkit:
  • Four Weeks of Bullying Prevention Mini Lessons
  • Mellow-Yellow Bullying Awareness Campaign
  • ABC Partner Programs and Resources Guide
  • Safe School Committee Legislative Guidelines
  • Strong Foundations Seminar
IAK and the Tulsa Health Department have started getting calls about Lice and how to treat it. Visit the Tulsa Health Department's website for helpful information on preventing and treating head lice.
As teachers, you spend time caring for and teaching your students.  You try to provide the best possible learning environment for each student in your classroom.  When you go home, you take care of your family or friends.  What about you?  Do you practice self-care? Below are some great article on ways to take care of yourself as a teacher.

Looking for new ideas to incorporate in your classroom? Have pictures or videos of activities that you would like to share with our program? Like, Share, and Tag It’s All About Kids on social media platforms, Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter, at @IAKTulsa. We would love to hear your feedback and keep you up-to-date with what is happening with IAK!
Time flies when your having fun!  We have had so much fun, we cannot believe October is already here!  In September we had the opportunity to provide Team Building and Classroom Cohesion.  Students learn the elements of being on a team and participate in hands-on activities with their classmates that encourage team work.  Fitness in the Classroom was another favorite in September.  We get your students up and moving while incorporating core content.

IAK offers several health education topics!
Please contact your district's Health Educator if you are interested in getting a topic scheduled.
