Love Aboard the VIRGINIA V

She may be named the VIRGINIA V but some know our ship better as the Love Boat. Just ask the 125 couples who were married on the ship by Captain Dale Pederson, not to mention the others who met their mates aboard. Clearly, romance rides the waves!
This ship has a wonderful way of bringing people together. This Valentine’s Day, we’ll be sharing stories of the VIRGINIA V playing Cupid. Check us out on Facebook to follow along.

If you’d like to feature the VIRGINIA V in your love story, consider the ship for an upcoming wedding, anniversary celebration or for just a romantic sail-away. Whether you’re celebrating dockside at our homeport on Lake Union or treating your guests to a tour of Lake Washington and Puget Sound, this historic ship provides the perfect setting. We still have prime dates available this year. Please visit our website for more information.

From the Archives...

ABOVE: This photograph shows David Cole, former Senior Chief Engineer of the VIRGINIA V. David began his career in steam engineering aboard the MAYFLOWER in the 1930s. During WWII, Dave served as an engineer on the Liberty ships and survived multiple torpedo attacks. The gauge panel shown here is still in use on the VIRGINIA V today. The gauges measure pressure at various points on the steam engine and in the steam plant which tell an engineer how these systems are operating.
