Dear Friends,

It's a good thing the Dharma has so much rain to offer because November was a pretty dry month here at Mariposa. For two weeks now, friends from many parts of the continent have been gathering in virtual space to support and encourage each other in stopping, calming, resting, and healing - following the wisdom of nature during the fallow season.

We are still in the beginning of the retreat, there is lots of the season left to practice and rain to soak in. Check out our offerings and learn about becoming a Sugarplum member below!

What's Ripening
Sutra Study

Week 3 of sutra study is happening on Wednesday from 7pm - 9pm. We continue to develop mindfulness of the body, now by looking deeply at each of its components in meditative concentration. This practice helps us see the true nature of the body and enjoy a balanced relationship with it. Be sure to catch up on week 2, awareness of posture and activities by enrolling in the online course.

Dharma Talk

Join us Saturday mornings from 7am - 8:30am to enjoy gems unearthed deep from Plum Village's dharma talk archives. These are teachings given by Thay in Vietnamese during the early days of Plum Village skillfully and beautifully interpreted by My Tong. For English speakers this is an opportunity to absorb Thay's energy as he teaches in his first language as a young teacher on fire to deliver a message to the world.

Most the the talks given are from past winter retreats, so we have the opportunity to dwell and take our time with themes and practices Thay was sharing with the early monastic community.

Be - In

What's a 90 day Rains Retreat without a little dancing in the rain? Join us on Friday, December 5th from 6:30pm - 7:45pm to share songs, poems, stories, dances, or anything else to brighten our community and bring smiles to our faces. Even get your kids and pets in on the action. Click the link below to make your own creative offering.

Sit. Walk. Listen.

Sit Walk Listen organizers from the San Francisco Bay Area, Los Angeles, and New York City invite you to join us for our final event of the year: a celebration of the people, work, and many hands it took to arrive at this moment. We pay tribute to the work of Ralph D. Abernathy, Martin Luther King, and so many others of the civil rights movement, the demonstrators and organizers opposing American involvement in the Vietnam-American war, the suffragists who fought for women’s equality, and all of our spiritual and land ancestors that have made it possible for this work to manifest.
Building Sangha

Sugarplum members are sangha builders, actively participating in an intentional and reciprocal relationship with the community. Sugarplum Sangha is sustained by the love, creativity, and generosity of its members - manifested in meaningful investments of time, energy, and resources. We are a community of people practicing to live in the present, transform our own suffering, and help awaken others.
