Enjoy this intro lecture for our 90 day sutra study beginning today! During our Rains Retreat, we'll be looking deeply at and practicing meticulously the the instructions for meditation the Buddha gave in the satipatthana and anapanasati suttas. In this presentation, Jonathan discusses the defining qualities of sati, the ancient pali word translated as mindfulness, as described in the two of the Buddha's discourses that most completely instruct how to develop it. This first presentation of the course provides some definitions of terms found in the discorses and how they relate to each other so that the instructions can be practiced in the proper context. All following lessons will focus on direct experience of the techniques descriped in the satipatthana and anapanasati suttas.
