Mosaic Kids (and their families) are invited to light our Advent wreath each Sunday this month!

Here's what that entails:
  • come up front after music and prayer
  • light the candles on the wreath
  • read a Scripture passage, reflection, and prayer on the microphone
  • "release" the grown-ups to greet each other
  • lead the rest of the kids, with the teachers, downstairs to the Young Mosaic Center
Depending on age and reading skill, kids and parents can share these steps. A couple of families could even combine on a week.

Perhaps you're thinking, my kid would never want to do that! Well, what if you put it this way:
"Dear Child, the people in charge at church have invited you to start a small fire, use a microphone, tell a room full of grown-ups what to do, and then lead a parade of your friends."

When you put it that way, what adult doesn't want to do it, am I right, grown-ups?

There are three Sundays left: December 4, December 11, and December 18. If you your child would like to be involved, please contact Pastor Dave soon!
BY THE WAY: There's some intention behind this invitation, beyond just asking for help. Our goal for Mosaic Kids is to serve and mentor them in ways that meet their unique developmental needs, while conscientiously keeping them integrated with the wider Mosaic community. In other words, their new space is great, but it makes the grown-up world feel father away. That's not all bad; it's not all good either. So we're looking to create opportunities, like this one, for kids to play a meaningful role in Sunday services. As part of their growth as disciples, we want to invite kids to take part, and let them taste the authority and responsibility and community connection that come with accepting that invitation.
