BID Business Support - Newsletter 17

With children going back to school this month, I am excited to see that some of our office based businesses are returning to the Garden City. If you are planning your return to town, please get in touch we can help you with information posters, hand sanitiser, etc.

We have been eating out to help out food and drink businesses in August and it is great to see that some restaurants such as Red Indian, Bill's and Misya have decided to continue offering discounts throughout September.

We are saying goodbye to our street Ambassadors this week, they have done a fantastic job in helping businesses get up and running in this post-lockdown world. They have been a great asset to the team and we wish them all the best!

If you are a Welwyn Garden City Watch radio user, you will have had a visit from the team to remind you of the best way to get in touch, if you need any more info on how to make the most of the scheme please get in touch.

I am not quite saying the C word yet but we are getting ready for quite a special (albeit different) season to be jolly, watch this space.

Please get in touch with us and let us know how you are doing. Please give me a call on 01707497930 or email

Mariana and Nicky
We had a lovely time filming Part 2 of our Welcome to Welwyn Garden City.

Thank you to all the businesses that took part, I hope you like it!

We will be sharing it on all our Social Media networks so please like and share so we can get it as far and wide as possible.

Welcome to Welwyn Garden City
WGCWatch - Radio Training Refresher and FREE TRIAL
If you are a Watch radio user you will already be familiar with the benefits of being connected with CCTV and other shops and businesses in the town.
Over the last few months we have had a slight increase in crime in WGC town centre so we are working together with the police to improve our communications.
If you still haven't got a radio you can get a FREE TRIAL for a month, just email Naomi

We have been visiting businesses with a reminder of the radio best practice, if you want to catch up you can view the training video here

Henry Moore statue gets a polish

We are proud to be hosting such a magnificent piece of art in out Garden City to celebrate the Centenay of our town.
Being on loan from the Henry Moore Foundation comes with its perks, in this case a professional polish, thanks to Matthias all the way from New York City.

Thank you to Malcolm Day for the photographs and to Graeme and everyone at the Welwyn Garden City Centenary Foundation who are responsible for this fantastic addition to our town.

Footfall is slowly recovering

We have noticed an increase in footfall over the last month, still about 35% to 40% down on last year but slowly but surely we will get there!

Here's a little graph showing our visitor trends from March until August.
