Meet the maker
By Aad Koene
Hi, i'm Aad Koene, i'm a maker .....
8 years ago my life was affected by COPD and changed it from one day to the next.
Before that i had a garage and repaired and rebuild Land Rover's, but that's history.
After a revalidation time of a few years it was time for a big change in my life!
|
|
At last i found it in 3D printing.
Two years back i bought my first printer, a Heacent Prusa i3.
One of the many Chineese Clones of the open source printer Jozef Pruza developed.
After a few false startups and stumbles i rolled into the World of 3D, a total new concept for me.
A world of learning, visions by ev'ryone, assumings and still a biljon dollar business and growing. At first i started with the production of foodsafe cookkiecutters and that kind of foodsafe stuff, but cheap is still the keyword in that part of business, above foodsafe and health.
So i left that dead-end an got on with printing as my hobby and got the hang of it by making my machine as good as a proffesional one like Ultimaker and so on.
Along with printing as my hobby there came some commercial printing, and some more.
|
|
|
Last year i bought a second Prusa i3, an Anet A6, due to a shortage in production capacity.
So I became working as a semi professional and produce all kinds of 3D-stuff from game-accessories to rapid manufactoring in all kinds of material and colors.
In the same time i rebuild my first Prusa i3 from a 20 to 20 printbed to a larger 24 to 35 printbed, for some large stuff and more room for duplicating items.
.

As the title says: "I'm a Maker", it is true; i'm a maker, not a designer.
But when the time comes i'm evolving more and more designings, small but usefull stuff.
At first for re-designing stuff for better use untill now; drawing stuff for production as spareparts, scenery, trains and wagons for modeltrains in H0 and G and some other stuff.
As you see i'm growing and learning from maker, through remaker to designmaker ....
Never to old for learning new stuff!!!
I wish ev'rybody a lot of Happy Printing and a Healthy New Year.

Real Filament update
Petg Translucent and Opaque
|
|
PetG is not known by many. Pet is the same stuff your average soda bottle is made of, the G is the variant type. The base material has see-through properties. So when properly extruded the end-object will retain a certain amount of transparency.
What makes PetG so great? When comparing the material has a lot of the flexible properties of ABS. Allowing a lot of abuse and high impact resistance. But ABS is usually difficult to print with as it can shrink 5~8% during cooling which tears up your model. PetG has a similar shrinkage as PLA, so it is much easier to print with!
Print Real Filament PetG at 240 degrees and a bed temperature of 60 degrees with some 3DLAC and you can print even the biggest items.

As we just started selling the Duet3D products, it might be wise to print a box to be able to house your Duet Wifi board.
