2019 SES Awards Program - Call for Nominations

SES is now accepting nominations for the 2019 SES awards to be presented at the Society's annual conference in August 2019. Recipients are recognized for their outstanding contributions to standardization and conformity assessment or service to SES.
  • Leo B. Moore Award - Highest achievement, extraordinary contribution, and distinguished service in standardization and conformity assessment, and its professional advancement through original research and writing, creative application and development, or professional and public service 
  • SES/CSA Lorne K. Wagner Memorial Award - For noteworthy contribution or service to the growth and development of SES through exceptional achievement as an SES Officer, or exceptional contribution to SES by any member
  • Honorary Life Member - For unusual professional distinction and outstanding accomplishment or special contribution
    to recognized associations or committees in the standardization and conformity assessment
  • SES Fellow - For professional distinction and accomplishment in standardization and conformity assessment
  • Emerging Professional Award - For dedication to the profession and emerging leadership qualities in the field as perceived by his/her peers

2019 SES Student Scholarship Program!

Apply today for an SES Scholarship, applications are due by April 1, 2019

The Society for Standards Professionals has established a Scholarship Program to support students involved in the use of standards in their academic curriculum. We know that each new generation of graduating students holds the potential for helping us achieve our mission of increasing awareness and use of standards.

Individual or Organization members may support the SES Scholarship Program. Announcing the 2019 SES World Standards Day Paper Competition

World Standards Day pays tribute to the work of all standards professionals who develop voluntary consensus agreements, standards, guides and other documents in support of industry, regulation, and consumers. The development of standards is important to the global economy and World Standards Day is celebrated each year on October 14th in recognition of their efforts. 

The first-place winner will receive a plaque and $2,500. Second and third place winners will receive $1,000 and $500, respectively, along with a certificate. In addition, the winning papers will be published in SES’s journal, Standards Engineering.

Submissions are due by September 13th, 2019 and should highlight standards and their use and may relate to the World Standards Day 2019 theme or other topics related to standards development. See the World Standards Day paper competition page for topic ideas and instructions for submission.

SES Member Spotlight

The Society for Standards Professionals (SES) is seeking SES Member volunteers to discuss how they became a member, what standards development means to them, and how the SES has contributed or played a part in their professional development.

Volunteers will be asked to complete a short one page survey and if chosen, will be included in a future SES News posting.
