Hello Soup Dragons
It feels like it’s been a while – the leaves are starting to fall from the trees and the kids are back at school. It must mean that it’s time for Sutton Soup! Soup 11 is next week, on 11th October appropriately enough, and we’ve got four fantastic pitchers lined up for you...
The Diamond Centre for Disabled Riders – provides therapeutic riding and carriage driving for children and adults with disabilities, which benefits their health and wellbeing. Mike will be pitching for funds to help them to continue to run this unique facility: http://www.diamondcentre.org.uk
Project Linus UK – Liz runs the South London branch of this national volunteer organisation. She will be pitching for funds to help them continue with their work of organising volunteers to craft beautiful homemade patchwork quilts which are then given to sick or traumatised young people, giving them a sense of comfort and security: http://projectlinusuk.org.uk
One Step at a Time – is a small local charity based in Cheam. They provide support to disabled/special needs children, and their families, by holding club days, outings, coffee mornings and more. Lauren will be telling us about the work they do when she pitches: http://www.onestepatatime.me.uk
Ataloss – is a non-profit charity seeking to plug the gaps in bereavement support, particularly focusing on grieving men and young people aged 18-30 Dave will be telling us how hey are seeking to make Sutton a bereavement aware town, supporting those who have been affected by the recent increase in teenage suicides in our borough: https://www.ataloss.org
As if that wasn’t enough, we will be hearing from the wonderful Charlotte and Luisa from Look Good Feel Better, who won £1067.20 at Soup 10 back in July. And the lovely Penny of The Dreaming Tree, who won April’s event but couldn’t make July, will be popping in to tell us how she is getting on now.
The Soup this time will be Carrot, Coriander and Orange Soup prepared by the good people at Sutton High Street’s Shinner & Sudtone pub (https://shinnerandsudtone.com), with plenty of homemade bread made as ever by Heather and the Bread Club. In addition to our pay bar, we will also have a new feature for you, Sutton Soup Recipe Cards, with some of our favourite soups from the past events detailed for you to make at home, in exchange for a donation.
Tickets are going fast – if you haven’t already booked yours, you should do so now! Here's the link for you: https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/sutton-soup-11-tickets-48022172611
We’ll be in touch again next week with more details.
All the best
