Hello Soup Dragons
Thanks to all of you who made it along to our 10th Soup last week. It was a wonderful evening. And for those of you who didn’t manage to get there…guess what?? We’ve done it again! We broke our previous record and raised a staggering £1067.20!!!
It was a very special Soup being our 10th one – made even more special by the amazing birthday cakes that Free Cakes for Kids donated to us – and we couldn’t be happier that it was also a record breaker.
This was made possible by our super-generous sponsors for the evening, Lookers Volkswagen Morden, Cheam Financial Planning and Sainsbury’s. Due to their extra large donations for Soup 10 we were able to start off the evening by adding £300 of sponsorship money to the pot. Thank you so, so much to all of them. And thank you also to the Bishop of Croydon, Jonathan Clark, the Mayor of Sutton, Councillor Steve Cook, and the Mayoress Pauline Cook who attended their first Soup – we very much hope you enjoyed it as much as we did!
Here’s a recap of who pitched:
Lighthouse – Jason from Sutton Vineyard Church told us all about their new project running out of the old Dolphin pub and the great work they do there: https://www.suttonvineyard.org/community/#lighthouse
Look Good Feel Better – Charlotte and Luisa pitched for this charity, running sessions at the Royal Marsden, that helps women and teenagers manage the visible side effects of cancer treatment: https://www.lookgoodfeelbetter.co.uk
9th Carshalton Scout Group – Sarah, a passionate volunteer for the Scouts, wanted funds to help celebrate the group’s 85th birthday by taking the children to camp: https://www.9thcarshalton.com
Social Orchards – Robert runs this community planting scheme that wants to create an accessible ‘food forest’ along the banks of the Wandle: http://www.socialorchards.co.uk
It was a very close race indeed but the winning pitcher in the end was the girls from Look Good Feel Better, who were thrilled with their mega £1067.20. They will of course be coming back to see us in October.
Sadly, Penny from the Dreaming Tree, our April winner, couldn’t make Soup 10 due to ill health, so there’s a good chance we will be hearing from her in October as well!
Special mention to Heather and the Bread Club who made all the food for us on the night – a lovely Tomato & Basil Soup and lots of delicious bread. You can have a look at The Bread Club here: https://www.facebook.com/thebreadclubb/ and follow them on Facebook. We are reliably informed that the soup recipe will be going up online soon…
Tickets for Soup 11, on 11th October funnily enough, are available now on Eventbrite. Book yours now to avoid disappointment: https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/sutton-soup-11-tickets-48022172611
Thanks to you all for supporting us this far – here’s to the next ten Sutton Soups!
See you soon…
All the best
The Sutton Soup Team
