PEI TRI-PD Association Fall Workshop - Managing Work Related Stress for those working with Trauma

The PEI TRI-PD Committee consists of Psychologists, Social Workers, Counsellors; and this workshop is also open to anyone else who would find this topic of interest. Our presenter, Diana Tikasz, works together with Francoise Mathieu at Tend Academy in Kingston, Ontario. Francoise recently presented a workshop on Compassion Fatigue in PEI; Diana will continue that theme with a workshop on practical strategies for managing work-related stress for professionals working with trauma.

Window of Tolerance Framework (WTF) and Other Strategies to Keep You Grounded in High Stress Situations

Join us for a 2-day intensive workshop for helping professionals with Diana Tikasz, MSW, RSW

September 29 & 30, 2016 from 9 am - 4 pm (registration starts at 8:15 am) at the Murchison Centre, Charlottetown, PEI

Many of us operate under constant stress and overdrive: the pace, content and competing demands of the modern workplace have escalated markedly over the past decades. Helping professionals are feeling the pressure physically, emotionally and in their relationship with others. This elevated stress state is often challenged further by added direct and secondary trauma exposure. Eventually, we can find ourselves shutting down and numbing out because our bodies were not built to function in a high-energy state for extended periods of time. As a result, we see many negative physical, emotional, behavioural and relational consequences in the workplace.

The Window of Tolerance Framework (WTF) is our optimal zone – the place where we do our best work, when we are feeling calm yet energized, healthy and creative. Stressors and triggers can bring us out of that zone into high stress and reactivity, or into numbness and avoidance.

In this workshop, you will learn very practical skills rooted in neuroscience that will guide you to work with your body and brain to create optimum health, both in the workplace and at home.
Diana Tikasz, MSW, RSW has worked in the teaching and health care sector for the past 27 years. She has spent many years in high stress, high trauma-exposed work settings. Diana brings her vast experience as a front line worker and supervisor to this workshop, as well as the latest findings on the neuroscience of trauma exposure management.

Cost: $250 for members of PEIASW, PAPEI, PEICA and $275 for non-members
