Adventures of Mika
Service Dog in Training

January 25th makes one year since this fluff ball came to us from Mt. Charleston.  Mika is now 15 months old!  She still has puppy energy and is yet to realize her size.  She loves to snuggle and give love.  She will lean all the way into you and cover you with kisses.

She recently started Rally class.  She’s a pro at “front”, “heel”, “side” and “around”.  She loves chasing her ball and recently had that skill transferred to a cane.  It didn’t take long for this smart girl to learn to fetch the cane when we dropped it.

When Mika has her vest on and is “working,” she is almost perfect.  She instinctively blocks and covers.  She is always on alert and keeping her eye on her surroundings.  She doesn’t show much interest in people or food, and tends to ignore things on the ground.  Except birds.  Being raised with a beagle has given her strong “bird dog” reactions.  They are flying toys that should be caught, quickly.

In the past year she has gone from fighting bath time to accepting her soapy fate, knowing that her favorite part, drying off, will happen once she gets through the bath.  She loves her spa days.  She lets us check her from ear to tail without complaint.  Nail trims and teeth brushing makes all the girls very happy.  They line up and can even get a little pushy to take their turn.

Mika still carries a toy outside with her at potty time and will often drop it.  That means we have a lot of toys piled up and they get washed before they can come back into the rotation.

We have had a lot of visitors lately.  She has improved greatly with having guests and meeting new people.  Mika makes sure they know it’s her house and insists on showing off her impressive spin moves before she covers guests with love and hair.

We cannot believe it has been a year already.  Time flies when you are having fun!  Mika is an amazing, smart, silly, lovable girl.  Raising her has been a pleasure and an honor.  We are excited for what is next to come.

What is Mondays Dark?
It's an awesome 90 minute show headlined by Mark Shunock and a cast of many of his Las Vegas entertainment friends.  This past December the program celebrated its 6th year by giving One Million Dollars to various Las Vegas charities. What does this mean for Michael's Angel Paws?  Our chosen date is Monday, August 10th and on that night we will be awarded $10,000.
You'll laugh, laugh some more, and cry, all in an effort to raise money for your favorite charity.
Please join us, and purchase tickets click here.
It will be an awesome night with lots of silent auction items too.  Mark your calendar and we'll see you soon.

We are pleased to offer group classes throughout the valley. Learn the basics of dog training in our Fun with Obedience class. Take your skills to the next level with our Path to Therapy Dog Part I, which is all about distraction-proofing your pup's sit, down, and stay, all the while working towards your AKC Canine Good Citizen test.  Our Path to Therapy Dog Part II prepares your pup to be a Therapy Dog.  Other class options, just for fun with your pup are, Agility and Rally.  Our Agility classes teach single jump, double jump, tunnel, letter totter, and so much more.  The Rally class is all about learning and perfecting the heel position, along with left turn, right turn, 360 left, 360 right, and more.
Aside from group classes, our trainers will work with your pup one on one. The benefit of private lessons is that we come to you and work with your pup at home, on anything from basic manners to advanced obedience. Private lessons are $100 a session or, a package of five lessons for $400.
Give us a call or refer a friend; our trainers are here to help!

Founder's Note
I took some time to reflect over the last year, about the huge strides we made. 2019 saw us graduate 27 Service Dog teams, the largest to date. Our Therapy Dog teams made thousands of visits to bring smiles through wagging tails. Additionally, our Therapy Dog teams raised just under $30,000 towards scholarships and Michael's Place.

This year we are updating our promotional materials and adding new classes that will roll out in August.

We are sending our letters and have contacted Bergin University to begin our ADI accreditation. This is even more imperative as  Service Dog laws are evolving and we want to best serve our Las Vegas Community.
