We are happy to announce the return of our NIST FALCONs (Friday Afternoon Learning Community of NIST, formerly NIST Happy Hours) on Friday September 10th.

We open our Fall Series with presentations from two groups that participated in the NIST Solve My Problem Collaborative Workshop that ran for four weeks this summer. The first presentation is about Ungrading.  Participants will explore ungrading as an alternative form of assessing student learning and how to implement ungrading immediately in their courses. The second presentation, about active learning, will be a discussion of the use of predictable, structured formats in high-enrollment classes to enhance active learning strategies.

Sit down with other engaged colleagues on Zoom. Based on research by the Summer Institutes, supports are three times more important than barriers in implementing Scientific Teaching in classrooms. Join us for support with the National Institute on Scientific Teaching, formerly the Summer Institutes (Bathgate et al., 2019a, 2019b).
