The International Students Office is seeking 5 International Orientation Student Coordinators to assist with a variety of duties involved in coordinating International Orientation (IO 2021) for incoming first year undergraduate students. We are looking for a group of students who is ready to work with us over the summer months to help the incoming class of international students connect with each other and the MIT community. OPEN POSITIONS: 5 International Orientation Student Coordinators
Serve as student contact for prospective students and mentors during the summer; be prepared to answer questions and address concerns.
Prepare/participate in student presentations & sessions before and during International Orientation week (some or all may be virtual; to be determined).
Assist the ISO staff with the coordination of all International Orientation events and attend all related meetings (virtual or otherwise).
Develop and implement new ideas for Orientation, if desired.
Attend all International Orientation sessions and events during Orientation week, if applicable.
Help coordinate airport greetings the weekend prior to International Orientation week, if applicable.
Good sense of humor, organized, energetic, creative, patient, comfortable with large groups of students.
Previous experience as IO mentor or group leader preferred.
Must be familiar with the campus, the cities of Boston & Cambridge, and the public transportation system.
Students should be available over the summer for meetings (remote) as needed during regular office hours. We anticipate that this position will require approximately 1-3 hours per week during the summer, with increased hours during the month of August; position may be full-time during Orientation week, Monday, August 23 until Thursday, August 26. Evening and weekend hours may be required the weekend of August 20-22 as well as Orientation week. *Please include a summary of your summer availability with your letter of interest.
Stipend: $1000.00. Will be paid in August (during Orientation week).
