Electro Harp Live 2018

SATURDAY 13TH JANUARY 2018 FROM 9.30AM TO 9.30PM
This is an a FREE, all day event. Please share this e-invitation with your friends!

Headlining our extraordinary world-first electro harp event, we welcome Milana Zaric (pic above, top) and Richard Barrett from Belgrade/London to perform Bussotti's Fragmentations and Saariaho's Fall to start the day off before breaking it down into workshop format. Ailie Robertson (bottom left) and Ranagri (bottom right) perform in the evening and there are also lunchtime and teatime performances by Joris Beets from Amsterdam/London, Sonja Tavormina from Belgium and Vanja Contu from Italy. 6 musicians (not necessarily all harpists!) will be involved in the creation of a new 'Mosaic' work on the day, using gesture-controlled technology and guided by composers Ailie Robertson and RBC's own Dr James Dooley. Thanks to the generosity of Salvi Harps and Bow Brand strings for funding an entirely creative, not-for-profit day, this event is 100% FREE to all participants and audience members. If you'd like to join in any of the workshops, simply fill in the Booking Form and return it to me, Eleanor.Turner@bcu.ac.uk as soon as possible as places are limited for some of the workshops.

Vanja Contu (Italy) and Sonja Tavormina (Belgium) are performing and coaching workshops using effects pedals and looping - come and try it out in Workshop 1 (no previous experience necessary) or improve your skills.
Joris Beets will be there all day to demonstrate the Delta Harp and answer your questions.

Composers and non-harpists are JUST as welcome!

Shockingly, the harp isn't just for harpists! This amazing day of artistic creativity, full of discoveries and challenges to inspire the ears and the mind, is open to all musicians. All workshops are suitable for non-harpists and you can bring your own electric or electro-acoustic harp or other instrument if you have one. Don't be put off if you haven't, there will be plenty of instruments to try out on the day.
