Want to get more involved with your Sierra Club? Whether it's a hike up a mountain, a picnic in the park, or some good old fashioned political activism, we have an event for you!

Note: we have TWO events tomorrow, Tuesday, March 6. Come advocate with us in the afternoon at Los Angeles City Hall to protect one of Koreatown's only green spaces, Liberty Park. Then later that evening join us for our latest Speaker Series event. This month's topic: BEES! More information below.

March 6, 2:30 p.m.
ADVOCACY: Protect a Park! 
 
Location: City Hall 200 N Spring Street, Rm 340, Los Angeles, CA 90012 (Entrance on Main St.)
The Planning and Land Use Management (PLUM) Committee is set to vote on whether to designate Liberty Park in Koreatown a Historic-Cultural Monument. Come make your voice heard as we try and save one of the neighborhood's only parks from development.

SPEAKER SERIES: Urban Beekeeping with Ruth Askren  

Location: 1145 Wilshire Blvd, Ground Floor Public Space, Los Angeles, CA 90017
Ever wonder how you can help save the dwindling population of our most important pollinator, the honey bee? Join us with our special guest Ruth Askren of the Hive Tribe to discuss how you can become more bee friendly and even start your own backyard colony!

GET ACTIVE: Zero Emissions Sunset Poetry Hike.

Location: Vermont/Sunset Metro Station 
Meet & take  the electric shuttle into the Griffith Park for an inspirational hike, about 3 miles and 800 feet gain at your own pace. Celebrating local poets on this one!

 
April 4, 7 p.m. 
SPEAKER SERIES: Green Peace with Amanda Stemen

Location: Stories Bookstore in Echo Park, 1716 Sunset Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90026 
Join us in a discussion about the scientific evidence behind the mental health effects and benefits of nature.

 
April 7, 8:30 a.m. 
GET ACTIVE: Newcomer’s Hike

Location: Griffith Park Fern Dell, Large Parking Lot  
An easy, hilly hike, about 3 miles and 500 feet gain. Afterwards, linger over coffee and pastry, and learn about our mission.

 
April 7, 11-3 p.m. 
ZERO WASTE FAIR & EXPO

Location: Grand Park DTLA
Join us for and educational interactive Fair-Expo that will teach you how to get on the right path to becoming Zero Waste.  Bring your whole family to this fun event at Grand Park, enjoy music, zero waste food, and meet wonderful organizations here in LA that are modeling what a zero waste lifestyle looks like.  The Fair–Expo is FREE.

 
April 18, 5:30 p.m.
GET ACTIVE: No Emissions, Urban Adventure Hike 

Location: 7th Street/Metro Center
From the metro stop we’ll travel and hike to a local park. After a bit of hiking we’ll go to a food plaza for some dinner. After that we’ll walk to a pub near a Metro station. Join us for a different adventure every month!
April 21 , 11-2 p.m. 
Echo Park PICNIC and FUNDRAISER
Location: Beacon | Echo Park, 751 Echo Park Ave., Los Angeles, CA 90026 
Celebrate an early Earth Day and help protect the planet at a picnic to raise funds for the Sierra Club, the nation’s largest and most influential environmental grassroots organization. Help protect the earth by enjoying a picnic at the park -- delicious food from Beacon, guided historical tours of the revitalized Echo Park Lake, paddle boat rides, good music, and raffle! Also, for the entire month of April, Beacon will donate $1 when you bring your own cup (and mention Sierra Club) or order a Quinoa or Farro + Pesto Bowl!
