Mint Artists will join hundreds of nonprofit organizations that seek donor contributions on Giving Tuesday. We plan to use funds raised to buy new canvases and art supplies - and to start funding a second year of creative summer jobs and our Paint Detroit with Generosity campaign.
Anyone who donates $100 or more will receive a packet of Mint holiday cards. Join us at SocraTea from 2-5 on Tuesday, Nov. 29. Give online or send your check to Mint Artists PO Box 21667, Detroit 48221.
Thank you for being generous. Your donations may be tax deductible as Mint is a 501c3 nonprofit organization.
Mint Artists Guild is proud to announce that Pamela Hilliard Owens has joined its board of directors. Ms. Owens, shown with her husband Keith Owens, the Michigan Chronicle senior editor, owns three Detroit companies in publishing communications and branding including Writing it Right for You. A former middle and high school teacher, she joins Mint's education team and is helping with Giving Tuesday, among other projects.
Thank you kindly!
Mint Artists Guild thanks Alisyn Malek for recommending our creative work to General Motors. Also thanks to Kind bars for the regular donations of snacks.
The Paint Detroit with Generosity paintings are being delivered to almost 20 nonprofits in Detroit. They are going to the Secret Society of Twisted Storytellers, a homeless shelter, youth arts and education organizations and many others.
STEAM-y art-full day at GM Tech Center
Mint Artists brought a lot of creativity - and about 25 teen paintings and photos - to the General Motors Tech Center STEAM DAY on Nov. 15. Maddie 'Moth' Teece painted the five letter signs ahead of time - and wow, do they look good with a red Corvair nearby. And three Mint artists worked with Mint's Vickie Elmer, Hubert Massey and Mark Loeb on a collaborative 'pixel paper painting' of a Bolt. We welcomed plenty of GM engineers and analysts and most of the 125 high school students to be an artist for a few minutes.
Mint pulled together the projects in about 10 days after a few engineers invited us to bring the 'A' to STEAM Day. Mint hopes to make more art and friends at the GM Tech Center at our next activity and event there.
Mint Artists is opening up its Dec. 6 Goal Setting for Creatives workshop to emerging artists who interested but not yet accepted into Mint membership. Those artists pay $5 and must reserve a space. Please share with artists ages 13 to 19 - and invite them to apply for Mint learn and earn membership in 2017.
