A fundraiser in a Greektown studio, summer jobs & Belle Isle volunteers needed

Mint Artists will be showing and selling creative work at the debut Belle Isle Art Fair on Aug. 6 and 7.  That weekend, we also are part of the Sidewalk Festival of Performing Arts.
It certainly will be a beautiful busy weekend - and we hope to see you at one or both locations. Yes, teens in two places. So we need extra volunteers to supervise the teen tents, sell Mint cards and help tell Mint's story.
If you'd like to volunteer for a shift of at least three hours that weekend, please email . Or sign up online if you prefer! It's sure to be a beautiful and joyful weekend!

Please donate today!
Mint is growing and growing, and so we need to grow our volunteer network. We have several openings that we're posting on VolunteerMatch.  Check them out and please share with your friends!

Meet Mint team member Linda Buck
Mint Artists education director and board member Linda Buck creates beautiful clay tiles, which are sold at the DIA Gift Shop and at several art fair. She has taught art in Detroit and Southfield schools at all ages, and works at Pewabic. She earned a bachelor of fine arts from the University of Michigan and a master of arts from Wayne State. She has led or helped plan several of Mint's workshops.
Linda will help with the summer jobs program, and other Mint projects. She also volunteers at MOCAD.

Thank you kindly!

Mint Artists Guild thanks Pamela Hilliard Owens, of our advisory board and Writing It Right for You, for her assistance in organizing our Mint picnic, and Mark Loeb and Integrity Shows for sponsoring the picnic dinner.  We also thank Kind Bars for the ongoing donations of treats, which make great emerging artists snacks!

First fundraiser in artists studio is Sunday; organized by Donald Calloway

Artist Donald Calloway has been active in Mint before it was Mint. He's appeared at our emerging artist workshops, shared his story and lessons and served as a mentor.
So it's not surprising that he's our first artist advocate with a fundraiser this Sunday called "You need a Mint."
Calloway's angels, hearts and fish will be for sale and he will cook for guests. Expect something garlicky and delicious.
His studio is at 743 Beaubien in Greektown, up a few flights of stairs. Suggested admission donation starts at $4 and details are on the Facebook event.
See you Sunday for a delightful and artful fundraiser.

Mint's creative summer job program starts in early July, and one of our new employees has a familiar face - and some beautiful paintings.
She is Alexis Bagley, who was part of Mint's learn and earn program this spring and sold her work at the Palmer Park Art Fair. Bagley just graduated from Cass Technical High School and will attend Wayne State University this fall. She intends to major in nursing. Passionate about painting, her piece was featured at the Wayne State Tri-County Exhibition this spring.
Mint connected with SER Metro and Grow Detroit's Young Talent for our first summer jobs program. This will allow us to hire three or four emerging artists for creative projects - including painting 25 pieces for our Paint Detroit with Generosity campaign.
Mint will work mainly out of The Carr Center downtown.
We still need funding for art supplies and other costs for this six week summer program. Send a check or click on the donate button to give!
